Atheists Helping St. Paul Youth - Shop, Drop & Roll - Youth Express & Pizza Luce

Please consider joining me for a fun tour and optional shopping/donation experience followed by pizza, beer, and/or pop at Pizza Luce afterward in St. Paul.

This unique opportunity to support and learn about a local (and secular!) non-profit in St. Paul is being billed as Shop, Drop, and Roll because there will be an opportunity to shop for merchandise, drop donations, roll a bicycle in for donation! All of this is completely optional so there is no expectation to buy or donate anything during this event. Just by showing up you're helping youth in St. Paul.

The Youth Express program, under Keystone Community Services, helps local youth in St. Paul develop skills and confidence to succeed in the future. This is done primarily through their entrepreneur internship curriculum which features two retail shops on Selby Ave. (across from Pizza Luce). The Express Yourself thrift store is operated by a staff of young women learning how to operate a retail store. Customers can expect to receive excellent customer service in a delightful, beautifully decorated store that offers high-quality clothing and accessories. Virtually all of the items in the store are marketed to women but men are encouraged to think of the women in their lives when shopping!

The other retail store next door to Express Yourself is the Express Bike Shop . In this store you can expect to find some really good deals on quality bicycles that even the most experienced bicyclist enthusiast can appreciate! The bikes have been carefully examined, repaired, and refurbished (when needed) by young men and women participating in this Youth Express business internship program. Customers will be treated to excellent customer service and have the opportunity to browse and/or purchase bikes or bike accessories. The Express Bike Shop also provides bike repairs and they accept bicycle donations (parts or complete bikes) so feel free to bring your bike in for a repair or donation.

There is absolutely NO EXPECTATION to purchase anything or give a donation--although they are appreciated. The management of this program is simply excited to host a tour to the Minnesota Atheists of their wonderful, secular program. They are also happy to provide everyone who comes out for this event with a coupon for a slice of pizza at Pizza Luce which is where we'll meet afterward for a godless feast!

Great event to benefit a worthy cause, and I saved a lot of cash getting my bike fixed!

Will they take two bikes that need some tuning up? My sister is moving abroad and I'm downsizing to a smaller apartment in the next 1.5 months, so this event is ideal for me to donate a good amount of items....

I don't have a truck but I might have access to a car that would be large enough to have a bike fit in it. What area of town are the bikes coming from?

Can't bring my bikes today because of the weather (they're snowed in the shed). Will have to bring them in sometime when the weather's warmer...

I just learned that a church who had been a significant donor of gifts for Keystone's holiday gift program chose a faith-based organization to donate their gifts to this year. If you're interested in helping Keystone give gifts to families in need, you can bring a gift donation with you to the event. Here are the details (including gift requests):

Fantastic idea, Eric! I'll be bringing an adult bike that needs repair and possibly donating 2 youth bikes. Also shopping for bikes.
