Come laugh at the dark side of the holidays at this hilarious one-woman show at the fabulous Bryant Lake Bowl Theatre in uptown. Janelle Ranek, the star of last summer's "Yard Sale," brings her twisted cast of characters along for an uncensored look at the bizarre jumble of pseudo-traditions and commercialism we call the holiday season. Subtitled "Letters To Santa: No texts, tweets, or blogs, just pen, paper and poor handwriting," the Bryant Lake Bowl website describes the show this way:
"Spend the night with an arsenal of Ranek’s characters: char-singing the blues about a night gone wrong, Drucilla and her goth/emo mother meet Mary Kay, the cat lady, telling tales of cats and Jesus, to name a few. They’re locked and loaded and with Weiland’s words, and you’ll laugh your head off. Plus Gloria, the martini-swilling, chain-smoking crass old broad, gives her swarthy advice in answer to your questions. If you saw “Yard Sale” this summer, you won’t want to miss this one-woman holiday ride! Co-written and performed by Janelle Ranek, co-written and directed by Jules Weiland."
Tickets are $12, but if we get ten or more RSVPs by December 6th we'll qualify for the group rate of $10 per ticket (prepayment will be required before the group order is placed). We'll meet at 6:30 for the 7:00 show, but if anyone would like to arrive early to enjoy a drink and conversation with your fellow heathens first, just say so in your RSVP.
