A Virtual Tour of the Creation Museum, Sat., Jan. 15, 1:30 p.m., Roseville

  • January 15, 2011 · 1:30 PM
  • Roseville Public Library

During a trip to southern Ohio last summer, Jessie and Casey Clausen found themselves within driving distance of the Creation Museum in Petersburg, Kentucky. They decided they had to see it for themselves—after all, how could any of us resist those exhibits? Dinosaurs living in harmony with humans! The logistics of Noah's ark explained! Compelling evidence that the universe is 6,000 years old (or less)! The museum's slogan is "prepare to believe," yet somehow our intrepid travelers came away unconvinced. Fortunately for us, they documented their visit with photos and video, and will be our guides for a virtual tour of the Creation Museum. You'll laugh, you'll cringe, you'll be simultaneously entertained and horrified as you sample the contents of 70,000 square feet of creationism on display. Jessie and Casey first gave this presentation to the Minneapolis Skeptics Meetup (http://www.meetup.com..., receiving such rave reviews as:

"Great talk. Interesting. Funny. Nice to hear first-hand information."

"Learned more than I wanted to!"

So if you missed out the first time, or if your mind is still reeling and you need to see it again, join us at the Roseville Library on January 15th at 1:30 p.m.

After the presentation, join Jessie, Casey, and assorted audience members at Old Chicago Pasta and Pizza in the Har Mar Mall, 2100 Snelling Ave. For directions and information, visit http://www.oldchicago....

P.S.: No word yet on whether Jessie and Casey are planning to return to Kentucky when the museum's ambitious new project, a "re-creation" of Noah's ark, complete with live animals on board, opens in 2014 (that is, if curator and CEO of Answers in Genesis Ken Ham is able to raise the $24 million necessary to realize his dream). some more parts of the video should have been captioned because the words were hard to make out in places. Otherwise great presentation.

This was a very good, humorous presentation. I enjoyed the way that Casey and Jessie brought out the silliness and the nature of the Creation Museum.

Great - kinda hard to hear some of the things that were said by the audience and the speaker....it'd be nice if we encouraged the audience to stand to ask questions - and a potty break before questions would have been nice too :)

A huge thank-you to Jessie and Casey for all their hard work, good humor, and hanging out afterwards, both at the library and the restaurant. They made this a great event.

Very engaging presentation. Audio was sometimes hard to hear, but the presenters did the best they could with the setup they had to work with. It was great to see so many new faces in the audience; I hope they will consider joining Minnesota Atheists.

It's sad people fall for this religious indoctrination.

It is great that casual awareness of things that are retrogressive to society are brought upfront and shared. Presentation was great. Hopefully the group continue to do well.

Scary, yet necessary. It was like watching a train wreck of reason.

I would love to see "A Virtual Tour of the Creation Museum: The Musical!"! I've built some stae sets before, let's get this baby going!

It's been a real long while since I've been with the group but, this one is way to good to pass up. I'm sure there is going to be some real smile generated by the pictures of Dinos and People walking hand in hand...

I am looking forward to this, and Joel, this would be a good one but if you are looking for a first meetup we also have a special "Newbie Night" for new members who have never been to an event before.
