Heathens' Highway Cleanup w/ Lunch and/or Dinner, May 22, noon, Rice, MN

  • May 22, 2011 · 12:00 PM
  • Old Creamery Cafe

Our long tradition of helping beautify our highways while getting some atheist recognition (in the form of a road sign informing motorists that this stretch of highway is maintained by Minnesota Atheists) continues.

Sunday, May 22nd is the date Minnesota Atheists will be performing its Adopt-A-Highway Cleanup in Rice, Minnesota. The Cleanup is scheduled from 1:00-3:30 p.m. on Highway 10, but if the turnout is anything like the last few, it won't take nearly that long. In any case, we'll meet at noon at The Old Creamery Cafe, 405 Main St., Rice, MN 56367 (west of the stoplight on Hwy. 10). This restaurant has a great all-you-can-eat brunch buffet, so bring a healthy appetite. St. Cloud's, Central Minnesota Freethinkers (cmfreethinkers.org will be pitching in on this one with us, so come out and meet our godless neighbors to the north.

Arrive at noon for lunch beforehand and/or stay for dinner afterwards. Gloves and sturdy footwear are recommended. The latest in highway safety vest fashion will be supplied, and transportation is available from the Twin Cities. Please let us know in your RSVP if you need a ride, and tell us where you're coming from. Contact Deb Doucette[masked] or Steve Petersen (Shoreview)[masked] or [masked] for more details. Also, call Steve if it looks like it will rain to see if the event has been postponed, although we'll still meet for lunch rain or shine.

Hope to see you there!

Hi Ken we gave back the Lakeville section to the state. two reasons. 1) Our local sponsor was no long able to do the project. 2) Many of us found the section unsafe. There was no pull off and the trafic flew by over 70 MPH.

A bit off topic, but is the Lakeville pickup scheduled?

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
