Twin Cities GLBT Pride Fest & Parade, Jun 25 & 26 (Parade at 10:30 a.m. Sun.)

  • June 26, 2011 · 10:30 AM
  • TC Pride Parade

March with us in the parade and/or volunteer at the MNA booth and receive a FREE Minnesota Atheists T-Shirt!

With the current attempt to alter our secular state Constitution with a religion-based amendment to define marriage as exclusively between one man and one woman, this pride parade and festival could be one of the most active yet. Come show your support for separation of government and religion and help protect Minnesota’s Constitution from religious intolerance. Equal treatment under the law for all citizens (guaranteed by the 14th Amendment) has become one of the most visible state/church issues of our day. A victory by any group is a victory for all of us.

Join us as we march in the annual Twin Cities GLBT Pride Parade. We'll meet up around 10:30 a.m. to march on Sunday, June 26th near 3rd St S and 3rd Ave S in downtown Minneapolis. Come wearing your Minnesota Atheists t-shirt, or march with us to get your own! We welcome members of all freethought groups to march with us (though parade rules will only allow our Minnesota Atheists sign).

We’ll be staffing a booth in Loring Park in Minneapolis on Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Sunday 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Steve Petersen at [masked] or Eric Jayne at [masked].

If you can't make it to the parade or volunteer, stop by the booth to say hello. We are usually located in the southern end of the park, near all of the church booths (but we're much more popular).

It was so wonderful to meet so many different people and the parade was just wonderful. I certainly would not miss this one again because I have been in the parade for years and will keep going. : )

A fantastic opportunity to support both the GLBT and Atheist communities!

We received a lot of positive comments and interest at the booth. It was such a positive and happy vibe at the Pride Fest! And I was given enough condoms to last a lifetime!

One word. GOOSEBUMPS. Waves of them kept washing over me each time the crowd cheered when they read our signs. I'm definitely going to make it an annual event. I had a fantastic time, and I thank the organizers to all their hard work.

According to KSTP's weather forecast this morning, it's going to be a beautiful day with some clouds but no rain. Sunday should be a nice day in the morning and possible chance of storms in the afternoon.

The parade line is announced. We are number 64, right about in the middle of the parade. This is the link http://www.tcpride.org/downloads/2011ParadeLineupv1

I don't have a shirt either. Will I be able to procure one there? It doesn't have to be a MN Atheists shirt; something in the spirit of the day would work.

Hi Rhonda, I filled the last spot earlier this evening. I hope you might still be able to march with us in the parade. It looks like it will be a great day and the crowds will be large and the cheers refreshing.

Steve, I'd be happy to sit at the table on Sunday. What time?

Sure, we have had support K-9's march before. We will have bottled water, and if you are able to bring any kind of dish so the K-9 can drink from that would be good.

If anybody would like to help staff the booth on Satruday or Sunday. Please let me know, we still have some time slot open.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
