Twin Cities GLBT Pride Fest & Parade, Jun 23 & 24 (Parade at 10:30 a.m. Sun.)

  • June 24, 2012 · 10:30 AM
  • TC Pride Parade

March with us in the parade and/or volunteer at the MNA booth!

With a religion-based amendment to be on the ballot this November that defines marriage as exclusively between one man and one woman, this pride parade and festival could be one of the most active yet. Come show your support for separation of government and religion and help protect Minnesota’s Constitution from religious intolerance. Equal treatment under the law for all citizens (guaranteed by the 14th Amendment) has become one of the most visible state/church issues of our day. A victory by any group is a victory for all of us.

March in the annual Twin Cities GLBT Pride Parade

We'll meet up around 10:30 a.m. to march on Sunday, June 24th near 3rd St S and 3rd Ave S in downtown Minneapolis; the parade will start at 11:00am. Come wearing your Minnesota Atheists t-shirt, or get your own special edition Minnesota Atheists T-Shirt that reads: "Minnesota Atheists Supports Marriage Equality" (suggested donation of $5). We welcome members of all freethought groups to march with us (though parade rules will only allow our Minnesota Atheists signs).

Volunteer at the MNA booth in Loring Park in Minneapolis on Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Sunday 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Steve Petersen at [masked]

If you can't make it to the parade or volunteer, stop by the booth to say hello. We are usually located in the southern end of the park, near all of the church booths (but we're much more popular).

Funny! They do say He has a sense of humor. However, I think numerology might offer more answers than theology. May I just add a special "Thank you!" to those folks who walked with their dogs and their child!!! Although it was more work for you, it made the parade extra-special for the rest of us and succeeded in showing the crowd what "normal" people we really are. Thanks so much!!

It's a sign! Je-uh-sus is telling us to repent.

Our booth number was P012. Our parade number was 112. Legend says that Jesus had 12 disciples. Coincidence?

Great to see so many turn out again! Let's work on some chants for next year. I will bring a rolling cooler with lots of water.

I was so proud (and a little sad) that the MN Atheists have been the only organization to file an amicus brief for marriage equality. And I must have gotten 200 hugs with my sign. WIN!!

Wonderful- it was my first gig and everyone was friendly and nice. And they let me drive my scooter...which was a big help to me cuz I couldn't have walked.

Ah unfortunately I'm moving tomorrow morning, but I will try to be at the booth by 2 PM to catch up on all the fun you'll have had (will probably miss the parade. Utterly tragic.)

To correct Steve, our location in the lineup will be on 4th Ave between 3rd Street and Washington Ave. When you click on the 'map' link near the top of the page, I have updated this to display very closely where we will be located. As Steve said, we will be number 112 in the lineup. Just look for people wearing Minnesota Atheists T-Shirts.

Andrea -- as a Pride attendee, it really depends on how much you're okay with your children seeing. This isn't New Orleans by any stretch, but this is definitely an event where dress code is a bit more lax and... liberal. It's a gay pride festival in Minnesota so it's pretty conservative by most standards, but it's still a pride festival!
