Church/State Separation: Election Issues and the Way Forward

  • Dec 19, 2012 · 7:00 PM

Please join us at the Roseville Public Library on Wednesday 19 December 2012 from 7:00 to 8:30pm

Our speaker will be Minnesota AU Board Member DAVID PACHECO

The 2012 election saw people voting on several issues related to Church and State separation. It also raised some issues and concerns that AU will be looking at over the next few years to ensure that the voting process itself is not unduly influenced by religious groups imposing their
religious beliefs on the whole population, and that church electioneering is appropriately monitored and responded to.

In this talk, David will be discussing the results, the new voting population, and the way forward.

This was an excellent presentation by David Pacheco. We need more collaboration with AU and follow-up on church-state issues in MN.

Thanks to everyone who came! Some great questions and discussion as usual, and raising some good energy for the work to come.

Engaging and informative. This seemed like a good way to move into 2013, looking back on what we accomplished in the 2012 election but also not getting too comfortable. I was pretty politically active this year, but learned some new things tonight.

There will not be any Minnesota Atheists Board members attending. Don't take offense -- we would all love to be there! It is just that we are obligated to attend our Board Meeting, where we will be doing the budget for 2013.
