Book Club: Godless - Little Canada - 1 to 4 PM Caribou Coffee

Dan Barker, co founder of the Freedom From Religion Foundation, has written an update to his book, "Loosing Faith in Faith," "Godless: How an Evangelical Preacher Became One of America's Leading Atheists"

This book will be valuable to people who have made the transition from religion to atheism, and those who want to understand what the mind of a fundamentalist is like and how to talk with them.

This is our first book club, and the style of the meeting will evolve in time. For this meeting, the organizer will be developing discussion topics based on the book and we'll talk about them as a group to get a better understanding of the book, and each others perspectives.

RSVP's are mandatory for this event, as this location is limited by space. Anyone is welcomed to attend. There will be two other book club meetings, one on Thursday, the 26th at JoJo's Rise and Wine and one on the 28th at Sun Ray Public Library in Saint Paul. You should only need to attend one of the meetings, but the space at Sun Ray is much larger, so if you'd like to go to that one in addition to one of the smaller meetings, feel free.

Comments about which book to cover next, possible locations, and days of the week are welcomed!

The discussions were mostly productive, and mostly related to topics in the book. We should have spent more time talking about specifics in the book, but you can blame the moderator for that. Everyone seemed to have a good time, which should be what counts.

I wish there was more discussion on serious theology issues and the argumentation. Otherwise, a very pleasant and lively group of people.

intelligent, friendly, lots of great comments passed around, many personal stories of why people become Atheists. Overall, a worthy discussion group to be with.
