RESCHEDULED: Book Club: Godless - Burnsville - 7 PM Caribou Coffee

Dan Barker, co founder of the Freedom From Religion Foundation, has written an update to his book, "Loosing Faith in Faith," "Godless: How an Evangelical Preacher Became One of America's Leading Atheists"

This book will be valuable to people who have made the transition from religion to atheism, and those who want to understand what the mind of a fundamentalist is like and how to talk with them.

This is our first book club, and the style of the meeting will evolve in time. For this meeting, the organizer will be developing discussion topics based on the book and we'll talk about them as a group to get a better understanding of the book, and each others perspectives.

RSVP's are mandatory for this event, as this location is limited by space. Anyone is welcomed to attend. There will be one other book club meeting at Sun Ray Public Library on Feb 28 at 1 PM.

Please take notes as you read the book and be prepared to discuss what you have read.

Comments about which book to cover next, possible locations, and days of the week are welcomed!

Great conversation, good people, and an intelligent and friendly moderator: Felicia Parsons.

Couldn't have asked for a better group of people --- engaged, articulate, respectful. Now we just need to find a better location.

It was my first-ever book club experience - I had a great time.

Since this is the first book club I've ever been involved in, I don't have any personal yardstick to judge it by. I was pleased at how well prepared and articulate the other participants were. I was also impressed by the skill and facility at moderation the organizer (Felicia) displayed. The group exhibited a great deal of mutual respect and self-discipline in keeping the discussion focused on the topic.

My only negative comment on the evening was the venue. Although it is highly convenient to me, it was somewhat crowded, somewhat drafty, and the ambient noise level was quite high. I think everyone realized that it was a hurried substitute for the original location and as such, it was marginal but acceptable.
