The Bismarck

Seattle punk band touring the UK. Had a listen on their bandcamp and it sounds like it might be fun. An article in the Huffington Post said: "I am hard-pressed to think of a band more hard working, that delivers so much quality music that is treated with more disdain than Seattle's The Bismarck". So this could be good or divisive :)

Support comes from Ex Wives, Bite and The Pharisees. Not heard of until now. After a quick listen to Ex Wives, they sound quite loud and punk. Bite sound a bit more blues/rock and The Pharisees sound punky/1950s rock.

Entry is £4.

Awesome gig :D Ex Wives were a cool mix of loud noise rock and math rock. The Pharisees were a suave and sophisticated mix of 50s rockabilly, 60s jangly pop and Sarah records era indie pop. The melodic walking bass really gave there sound bounce and energy that would make even the most reserved music connoisseur want to jump around on the dance floor.

Bite had great originality to their bluesy indie rock sound. The keyboard hooks were sensational and very catchy. The singer had a Mark E. Smith swagger to his vocals and the Rhythm section provided a solid groove throughout.

Bismarck were a spectacular aural assault of pure grunge rock genius. A performance fuelled with attitude and passion that grabs and demands your attention right from the overdriven sludge of feedback that screams from the opening chords. A truly awesome performance and sound :-D

The most thorough meet-up review to date. Most varied and good line-up for a long time :)

Yeah, it was good! The Pharisees were probably the highlight for me.

Sounds good! Are we just meeting at the wee red bar or brauhaus before hand?

As there are just a few of us and we all know the way, I think it's easiest just to meet at Wee Red Bar :)
