Congratulations Lori. I said you should think about becoming a producer. Is there anyone at the studios that would like to be on TV? Maybe you could produce for them?

I would love to say yes I will be at the events, but I just don't know. This being on-call thing is working out to be nothing. I tired to call the manager, but I could not get a hold of her. I wonder what I would do if I wanted to quit. Of coarse that would be before I ever started:-)

I would have come to class today, but I had a dentist appointment. I am being fitted for a dental appliance that is suppose to cure milder forms of sleep apnea. (Which I have.) I couldn't stand the CPAP machine. I was hoping if I lost weight it would make the sleep apnea go away, but it hasn't.

My best to you and all of the other ladies,
Jonnie Sue

Subject: [Collage-Workshop] Holiday Pot Luck and Open Studios!!

Hello everyone! Now that the World Series and the election are over, it's time to focus on the really important stuff, ART!!
I wanted to share some good news, and also tell you about some upcoming events.

First of all, I recently received the Producer of the Year Award from CreaTV San Jose (Comcast channel 15). For those of you who may not know, I've been producing a show on CreaTV for the past year. It airs every Thursday night at 6:00PM. Each week I demonstrate how to create a piece of art (collage, assemblage, decoupage) If you don't get Comcast, check the end of this email for details on how you can watch online. This way, if you can't get to class, you can still learn some cool new techniques!

Now, on to the
two announcements...

1. The Alameda Artworks  annual Fall Open Studios and Benefit is THIS WEEKEND, November 6 & 7 from 11-5 (reception will be on Saturday, 2-5)

If you've been planning to check out the studio, this is a great time to do it! There are over 30 artists in the building. Stop by and say hello! I'm in Studio #4.

1068 The Alameda, San Jose, 95126. Food! Raffle Prizes! And, LOTS OF ART!!!

2. Collage Meet-up Holiday Pot Luck Lunch and white elephant gift exchange

Tuesday December 14th, 12:30, in the studio, immediately after class.

Bring a dish to share, and a white elephant gift for the gift exchange (wrapped, please!)

Never been to a white elephant gift exchange? It's FUN! Here's what Wikipedia has to say about it:

Gifts are typically inexpensive, humorous items, or used items from home; the term white elephant refers to a gift whose maintenance cost exceeds its usefulness.

Participants draw numbers from a hat to determine their swap order from one up to the total number of participants.

Each person gets a crack at choosing a gift. The person who picks the first gift opens it and shows it to the rest of the group. Then the number two participant can either STEAL the first person's gift, or open a new one. If a gift is STOLEN, the person who had the gift stolen from them gets to unwrap a new gift. The game continues like this until everyone has a gift.

Let me know if you can come...I'll also post this on the meetup page so you can sign up there as well.

See you in the Studio!

Lori
