Project Art Journal: Autumn Course 2014

UPDATE: Catalog is going to print!  Our date for this class has been confirmed.  Please note the start time has changed to 6:30 pm and ending at 9:00 pm allowing us extra class time. The class fee is $85.

This is a seven week course meeting each Wednesday  SEP 10 - OCT 22

This course will be dedicated to creating personal Art Journals through mixed media methods, techniques, and various materials.

Why Art Journal?

Art Journaling is an exploration of your creative self-expression.  It allows you an outlet to exercise your creative muscles while chronicling a story with words, symbols, and images.  The emphasis of this course is on the creative process itself.

Field Trip

I have scheduled a field trip prior to this session to visit Balmy Alley in The Mission with my current students,  I do plan to schedule another visit later in the year. If you cannot make it with the class, I encourage you to go on your own. These murals are most definitely inspirational.  http://www.balmyalley.com/Murals.html

 Materials

Journal size is important.  A book that is too small or too large can be overwhelming to work with.  I recommend the 7"x 10" size Mix-Media by Canson.  The paper is acid free and appropriate for acrylic, watercolor, pen, and pencil...all of which you will be using in this class.

A detailed material list will be provided at registration or you may request it of me via email.  Below is a general BASIC MATERIAL list that you can start putting together. Students must be prepared to start working on their journal in the first class.

Michelle, are you asking if your friend can miss the first class? It's really helpful not to miss the first but okay to start in the second class. :)

Oh, Mali, I just can't schedule this session in.:-(. You know I'll miss learning and practicing the techniques you share plus the fun of being with everybody. Soon, though, I'll show my shiny, happy face. :-) Greetings to all.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
