FREE Swing Class - Learn to couples dance (no partner needed)

Ever wanted to learn to dance?  Well, this is your chance.  This 40 minute class of West Coast Swing is FREE!!!

It is a 40 minute class that breaks-down some of the movements that will get you started in West Coast Swing dancing.  These movements seem complicated when seen with all their layers, but in this class we strip these movements to their most basic forms so that you can pick them up and be ready to dance the same night.

This class is specifically created for those new to partner dancing!  So, beginners are welcome and so are singles!  If you can walk, you CAN dance!!!

After anywhere from 3 to 6 of these classes, you should be ready for one of our later classes those nights!!!

This is West Coast Swing done at a VERY high level...this lead/follow, not routine:

What is West Coast Swing?
West Coast Swing is a smooth modern style of partner dancing that is focused on technique, improvisation and musical interpretation. West Coast Swing is one of the most adaptable and spontaneous partner dance styles around and can be danced to a wide variety of music. Because it is constantly evolving to reflect modern music and trends, West Coast appeals to people of all ages and musical tastes.  West Coast Swing originated from Lindy Hop and has been evolving ever since.  Today, WCS is identified by the smooth look that comes from its use of resistance and compression to create elasticity.  It is a linear dance, where the leader primarily travels only on the first step of each move and the follower travels back and forth past him, initially in a slot and eventually in an hourglass shaped area. WCS highlights the importance of partner connection and technique while allowing both partners the ability and freedom to express individual musical interpretation.  Allowing for timing variations, rhythm changes, rotation and height changes, as well as individually arm styling.  West Coast Swing definitely becomes more addictive the better you get at it and usually leads to a life-time love affair with the dance and the community.
