Join us for a new Meetup date!

  • Oct 14, 2013 · 6:00 PM

Greetings all!

We are scheduling a new meetup on a new day of the week for those who have not been able to join us on Tuesday evenings. The next meetup is on Monday, 6pm, at 215 N. 50th St.

We have been sharing music and their chords from our favorite web sites. An acceptable site to use is www.ultimate-guitar.com. Type in the name of a song and then remember to use the type filter "chords." Please have the following music printed out and ready to use:

1. Father and Son (Cat Stevens)

2. Where have all the Flowers Gone

3. Brown Eyed Girl (Van Morrison)

4. Mrs. Robinson (Simon and Garfunkle)

5. Hotel California (The Eagles)

We have found that it is helpful to cut and paste the music yourself, so that you can place the chords on all the words and maybe enlarge the typeface if you need to.

Finally, please bring one or two pieces of a favorite piece of yours, and copies (10) to share.

So excited to see you again and any new friends who have joined! Remember to RSVP.

This was my first experience playing my guitar with other people and I really enjoyed it. I want to thank everyone for their patience and warm welcomes to the group. I am looking forward to the next meetup, and until then, I will be practicing and working hard to improve. Having these meetups to look forward to will surely add discipline to my playing. Special thanks to Kathy for graciously opening her home to all of us, and to Emily for being great host and leading this wonderful group. :)

Greeting creatives and guitar players and singers. What a great night. We built a group that sang well and grew through the night. Emily and I thank all the guitarists. Welcome John, James, and Steve, keep on coming. We continue to grow and have fun opening up to sing and play at whatever level. Thanks all and see you next time. Kevin

I had a great time at the MKE Guitar Group meetup last night. Thanks to Kathy for inviting us into her home. Thanks to Emily for hosting the group and thanks to everyone for the patience you showed to those of us less skilled than yourselves. Looking forward to our next meetup and another chance to play guitar with such great people.

    Hi Everyone.
This will be my first event with this group, and am looking forward to meeting you... I just wanted to be honest tell you all, that given my current (mostly self taught) skill level, I may likely not be able to keep up with everyone. I hope that is okay. Even if I only mostly listen, and can set some goals for myself, I think that would be great. :)

Would it be better to bring my acoustic or electric?

Hi John, So happy that you are joining us! How about bringing the acoustic guitar? Looking forward to meeting you. No worries mate, we are ALL levels of guitar playing. e.g. I am a very basic player who doesn't have a clue about bar chords and I learn from the others who join us. See you Monday.

Mike, so sorry you will not be with us this time. Next time, ok? Blessing: May the guy in front of you not slam his seat down and bang your legs!
