Join us for a roundtable discussion hosted by Cognizo Technologies. We'll talk about the future of the MySQL+PHP group. What would you like to see for presentations in the future? What would you be willing to present on? Is there interest in exploring more Open Source SLAMP directions? (You know LAMP--SAMP is the Sun stack.) Impromptu demos (15 minutes) are welcome--just bring a laptop and show us something over complimentary pizza and beverages.

Beware of construction, but the streets are now open. Contact Paulina McNamara at Cognizo for directions, if needed: [masked] ext 103

ARRIVE on time. Due to building security the door will LOCK at 6:30 p.m.

The MN MySQL User Group is sponsored by MySQL, a subsidiary of Sun Microsystems.

The topic of cloud computing came up. Both OpenSolaris and MySQL are offered on the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2). See: http://www.mysql.com/news-a...

WOW, great turnout! AND, we will be in the company of some MySQL & Sun MicroSystems engineers to help our discussion along. Sun has an aggressive commitment to Open Source Systems. See the links to key interviews added above.

Sorry for the short notice, but we want to kick off the season. This will be a fun and informal networking event. But, quick demos, discussion topics, and industry announcements are welcome. I look forward to seeing you.

    •  I had a great time!
    •  It was very informative, there were experts there that help run/develop the technologies themselves from the respective corporations. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
    •  Thank you, Cognizo for the pizza and for hosting this meeting!
    •  I like that the focus of the group is well defined.
    •  We got update on what's been happening at MySQL & Sun with comments from staff engineers at both organizations. Special thanks to Chris Powers on the MySQL Falcon project for sharing how that team and other projects like Drizzle are moving forward. There was lots of networking, discussion, and brainstorming--so we have plenty of ideas and presenters going forward. AND thanks to Asim, Paulina, and all of the Cognizo staff as our generous hosts for the event.
    •  It was very nice to see such a large gathering of experts in the Area of MySQL + PHP. It was clear that this was a group of people that are some of the best in the field, and nothing underscored this fact that even Sun Microsystems and MySQL had people in attendance. The agenda was ambitious and with so much expertise in attendance it proved difficult to cover all of the items that were intended because of the depth. To date this was one of the most interesting user groups I have attended and shall continue participating in future events.
    •  This was a planning session and roundtable - not one of our regular user group meetings, but I still found there was plenty of good information and some fascinating exchanges.
    •  The networking was good at this event.
    •  Great quality of people. Thanks to Azim Baig and his troops: Andrew & Paulina McNamara. David Skarjune's timing was perfect. Everything was A+.
    •  Cognizo's hospitality was exceptional and it was great to hear about present and future developments at MySQL. A great way to kick things off.
