Newfangled Frameworks

  • Needs a date

  • Needs a location

  • There are a lot of new and different Frameworks popping up lately. This would give us a chance to get a quick overview of some of the basic ups and downs of each.

15 minute bullet presentations on new frameworks. Giving a quick overview of "just the good parts" of each one.

You don't have to be an expert on the framework to give a presentation, just enough to walk us through a basic overview

    possible topics / presenters:
    Symfony2 - Max Vandervelde (confirmed)
    Laravel - Douglas Linsmeyer (confirmed)
Zend Framework 2 - Andrew Kandels? (unconfirmed)
    Fuel PHP- ???
    Phalcon- ???

I think we would need at least 4 topics to make this interesting. So suggest yours!

How about lighter frameworks such as CodeIgniter and DooPHP? :-)

I can dabble with them. At this time, I don't know any experts for these frameworks locally. I am still talking and trying get to know other PHP users at our monthly meetings.

Agreed - I'm enjoying playing around with Lithium, for example.

I think it's about time we did a shoot-out on this. Anybody done work with anything new?

It's just so awesome that our resident ZF2 expert has left us for greener pa$ture$.
Who wants to do "ZF2 - The Good Parts"?
There are probably a ton of fresh tutorials on the subject, since they've actually released it.

Andrew Kandels comes to mind for ZF2. He is a ZF contributor and developer at Caring Bridge.

Sounds good. Can you or Daniel get ahold of him to see if he's interested?

This sounds like an excellent idea for a presentation.
