Blackberry Jam Starter: Learn HTML5 & Cascades + $5k app contest

Calling all developers and designers! BlackBerry® is here with hands-on BlackBerry Jam Starter Sessions (each, a “Session”) and a Rewards Program to teach you about coding, support your app building and get you prepared to submit to BlackBerry® World™.

The momentum for the BlackBerry® 10 platform is strong – in just over 6 months BlackBerry World has grown to well over 120,000 BlackBerry 10 apps and games. Now is the time build new quality apps for this rapidly growing Built for BlackBerry platform.

These Sessions will take you through the basic principles of building a BlackBerry 10 app with Cascades and HTML5. A series of mini-lessons will be conducted throughout the day to introduce you to some of the deeper concepts of BlackBerry development.

Then you will have the opportunity to start building your own BlackBerry 10 apps and BlackBerry experts/evangelists will make themselves available to answer your questions. The choice is yours – you can join the lessons or focus on building your app.

Each participant who attends a Session, successfully creates an app that receives BlackBerry World and Built for BlackBerry approval and then posts the app available for sale or download on BlackBerry World within the timelines required will be eligible for Rewards.

You'll also be eligible to enter the Built for BlackBerry $5k app contest.

See the Official Program Terms and Conditions for complete details.

Please note: you will need your own PC running either Windows 8, Windows 7 or Windows Vista or a Mac to participate in a Session.

where do we get the Cascades SDK? the link provided points to the QNX Momentics IDE and a Cascades plug-in for Photoshop. No Cascades SDK is found on that page. unless QNX already installs the SDK by default ?

Hey Jose - yes, QNX Momentics IDE is Cascades. Let us know if that clears things up for you.

There are a few parking garages around GWU. Your best option is to use a garage and hopefully get an early bird rate.

This is from the GWU site re: parking: Visitors and guests of the Foggy Bottom Campus will be accommodated at the Academic Center Garage (located on I 'Eye' Street between 21st and 22nd Streets), Marvin Center (located on H Street between 21st and 22nd Streets), and G Street Garage (entrances located on 20th and 21st Streets in the alley way between F and G Streets). The G Street Garage is the university's first self-service visitors garage. It only accepts MasterCard and Visa for payment.
