Game Developers: Developing cross platform games using Cocos2d-x

Worldwide, more than 400,000 developers rely on open sourced game engine Cocos2d-x to build their mobile games- including TMSoft, creators of the #1 puzzle game on iTunes - Compulsive.

At this meetup, Todd Moore, founder of TMSoft and creator of Compulsive will teach you how to leverage Cocos2d-x to build cross platform games for iOS, Android, Mac, and other platforms.  Todd will share Compulsive's roadmap over the last year while highlighting integrated libraries used for cross-platform multiplayer, virtual economies, and more.  All of this ultimately turned a small game concept into a major feature on Google Play and iTunes.  This is an awesome opportunity to hear lessons learned from having a successful game with millions of downloads.

Agenda:

5-5:30pm - arrival & networking

5:30-6:30 - program and Q&A

7pm - adjourn

I found very instructive. A good next topic in gaming would be executing a game project. There's a lot of mix thoughts and info out there. We wound up consulting with a producer who used to work at EA to help us with execution.

A very useful all-around talk by Todd. I also liked the idea of a Mobile GameDev meetup group that he suggested. I bet there's a critical mass of interest in the DC area.
