MoMo #11: Visions on Mobile

This location is shown only to members

On June 1st it is time for our 2nd anniversary. Get ready for Mobile Monday #11! Read on to find out who will be speaking and how you can be there!

In short

  • Date: Monday, June 1st 2009 (Whit Monday/'Pinksteren'!)
  • Time: 12:00 - 19:00 (excluding drinks)
  • Location: Rode Hoed, Amsterdam (Route | Map)

Pay attention: this special event will start earlier than our usual MoMo events! You will have to take care of lunch before you come, we'll take care of snacks during the breaks and the 'borrel'. If you wonder why this MoMo will take longer, the list of speakers makes pretty clear why that is;)

How to RSVP
RSVPs will be released on Monday, May 18th, 12:00 sharp. You can RSVP by setting your status to YES in Meetup after the RSVPs are released next Monday. The event is free of charge, but an RSVP is mandatory. Make sure you RSVP in time, for this event we expect to run out of seats much faster than usual. Sign up for the RSVP Alert if you want to receive a SMS reminder.

Great visionary speakers. Refreshing compared to the ubiquitous case study "watch me make money" shows. Congrats to the organising team. Yuri, I can imagine it was something special for you to get this selection on stage:-) My taste buds got tickled and my brain got sparked.

Again, a very special MoMo. I was very proud of what my fellow MoMo team members put together during my maternity leave! On the practical side, I was very pleased by the backchannel now running in the background, questions to the speakers also to be asked via twitter and the speakers introducing each other. Re the 'visionary aspect': this was exactly what we envisioned. Only visions, no practical cases this time. But I also personally agree that next time, we should again spend time on cases, examples, 'moneymakers' and 'lessons learned'. What we also have learned over time that never ever can we please all 400 attendants: some want visions, others want practicalities. We love to hear your comments though, and try to improve time and again. And organise events which truly inspire!

In my view the best ever. The best audience ever, the best vibe, the best speakers, best organization. No backchannel issues and spamming on stage. Almost flawless execution in my view. I agree that some presentations were a bit too long and too much repetitive. However, for some visitors it was new all together and sometimes it is not suitable to knock off a world class speakers if he or she extends his deep view of a subject. Next time, we will present fewer than 6 keynotes. I disagree with visitors complaining about the lack of stats and cases. We communicated very very clearly that this MoMo event would be all about Visions, see the theme Visions on Mobile. WYSIWYG. And there were around 450 people around. It was PACKED. So some remarks here are totally out of reality.

Really good speakers! In fact a little to much to handle! Four of these would be also more than enough to visit! Besides, I like the regular mix of good speakers and nice short showcases or phone-battles. Only Howard was a little boring because he was mostly talking about examples, not much about his book (as he said he should do..)

After MoMo, who needs any ordinary conference anymore ? It's not strange to see that the tickets go in about 2 minutes and that a lot of people stand in (virtual) line to be able to attend. My hat's off to the organisers. Ewout Wolff.

    Very good, very important

Thanks crew for what was once again a great day!
  • Remco
Nice presentations, it was a long sit (especially on those chairs...) liked it; will attend next time (If I am on time with RSVP) I think MoMo could use more seats
  • Yoeran Luteijn
Interesting presentations and great speakers. Although the presentations should have been on a time limit. Some speakers made it a dreadful and tiring experience by talking about their subject too long and too dull. But I'll surely visit the next MoMo!
  • Gordon Lokenberg
Great speakers, great stories, great audience, great day!
  • Marijn Bouma
Great speaker line-up! Six hours is a bit too long though, no matter how engaging the speakers are. Also, although the topic was very inspiring, it wasn't very mobile-specific and the general message of the speakers was pretty close together. Two of this quality of speakers at each of the following MOMO's would be awesome though!
  • barbara molendijk
It was an inspiring meetup. And I was pleased to see that there was NO backchannel.

Hilarious, inspirational, funny, intoxicating, invigorating ... and more of that.. in the infamous words of The Chemical Brothers: Do it again!!
  • Chris Eidhof
Excellent edition, wonderful speakers. However, I think it might have been a bit too much: even though the last speaker was the most interesting, it was harder to still pay attention at the very end; also because everything got behind schedule a bit. Thanks for organizing another great event!
  • Jan van der Sluis
Nice example of quite a long meetup: 13.00-19.00 (approx.). Very well balanced though. Chairs aren't the best ones for a long sit. But around 90 minutes can be handled. The intervals were handy, especially to meetup with people...... Program was OK. Although not all was as innovative, new or inspiring the total, the summung up added value.
  • Pieter
Talks were too long and much too abstract. You can only spend so much time listening to people discussing how the mobile web is going to save the planet from extinction, while carefully avoiding any practical, concrete points which could lead to a real discussion.
  • Remco van den Elzen
Nice presentations, but some were too theoretical / scientific.
  • Camiel
All star line up of speakers. Great venue on a central location. The topic was not as specific and therefore interesting for a non-developer like me. Letting speakers introduce and Q&A each other should definitely become a custom!
  • Mick de Meijer
Despite the heavy speakers, I believe mobile monday should not only focus on what might happen within the coming 5 to 10 years but remain a platform on what's happening within the mobile advertising and marketing arena at THIS moment. What the Dutch mobile market needs is case studies and a problem-solving attitude. Therefore: I suggest to invite a Dutch brand at every mobile monday session and turn the crowd into an interactive advisory board. In this way, brands will be activated, agencies will do their best and mobile monday will proove to have both vision and deliver result.
  • Freek Uijtdewilligen
Maybe it was a too much abstract, but I guess that's the way it is with visions. It had the tendency to be a bit long, six of those talks - although very interesting - are perhaps a bit too much. Anyway, Robert Rice was fantastic, great visions..
  • EdwardSchwartz
Outstanding speakers; inspirational topics; great venue and excellent event preparation: A winner. Bedankt!
