Let's See Draft Day at the Capitol Theater in Gordon Square

I'm very surprised that this film hasn't received more local publicity, but maybe that's because it's based on the Cleveland Browns, and they thought we'd all go see it anyway. This is the story about building the Cleveland Browns into winning football team, kind of a Money Ball sort of film. Yes, it's a fantasy story he said, emitting an audible sigh. At least they really did film a lot of it in Cleveland instead of somewhere else and pretending it's our city. Thanks for that, I guess.

Synopsis

On the day of the NFL Draft, general manager Sonny Weaver ( Kevin Costner) has the opportunity to save football in Cleveland when he trades for the number one pick. He must quickly decide what he's willing to sacrifice in pursuit of perfection as the lines between his personal and professional life become blurred on a life-changing day for a few hundred young men with dreams of playing in the NFL.

UPDATE: Movie times have now been posted: we'll be seeing the 7:10 show.

With this high a turnout, I would really, really suggest getting your tickets online before the show. To purchase, click HERE

If anyone wants to meet beforehand for a quick bite to eat or an adult beverage, let's meet at the Toast Wine Bar (1365 W 65th St, across from the theater). Let's plan to meet at 6:00. I'll get there a few minutes early to watch for everyone. Or if you're going to meet us at the theater, let me know so I can watch for you there.

All in all, not a bad movie. The shots at Cleveland were kept to a minimum, and the city looked good for the most part. Nice seeing everyone, perhaps next time I'll get to Toast early enough to partake of food or drink.

Surprisingly entertaining with cameo appearances from by ESPN and NFL Network personalities and the commissioner of the NFL itself.

The two attorneys from Cleveland, Elk and Elk were in a scene of the movie along with an actor that looks just like Mike Holmgren.

I'm not going tonight (see my previous post); however, I am on a Toast's email list. Tonight is the first night of their 1st anniversary celebration. They are having free appetizers and happy hour all night. Wanted to share this because they could be pretty busy tonight. I'm sorry I'm missing the free food (and of course the company).

I will be trying my level best to make it to Toast, but it's not looking promising. Barring that, I will be at the movie, no question.

I've decided to pass on this one because I didn't realize that Oculus was Wednesday and I'm signed up for that one too. Can only handle one horror movie in a week. I figure any movie about the Browns could be catagorized as a horror movie. Lol.

Fantasy as in a Fairy Godmother appears? Or does an overzealous fan sell his soul to the devil?
