Thursday Night Coed

Intermediate Level Coed Volleyball, on 2 nets, from 7:00 PM. We'll initially go until 9. If people are interested in staying later on a regular basis, we can figure out the additional cost and make something work.

Starting in early June and running throughout the summer, we'll around 15 players regularly to make this work.  We'll monitor the attendance to make sure we can continue to offer it at $10/night based on gym rental costs.

Also, for new players, be aware that we have an insurance requirement as well.  That will cover players through the end of the year.

See you out there!

Advanced players should not come if they are not willing to play with everyone. The player last night should not be allowed back after complaining that three players on her team "can't play volleyball." How do you think that made them feel. Apparently one of these three left shortly after. If you are so competitive, then go find a tournament league.

@former member - Yes, but you have to understand that there are minimum requirements for this meetup. It clearly states in the description that this is "Intermediate Level Coed Volleyball". This league is intended for people that have SOME knowledge of how to play volleyball. It is not intended for 1st time players who lack the basic skills to play the game. Players need to at least be able to keep the ball in the air. Do you think it's fair for the rest of the people that are trying to enjoy a decent game of volleyball but can't because 1 player is ruining the game because of a complete lack of knowledge of the game?

Did anybody pickup 2 volleyballs during this past Thursday's meetup by accident? One of them was a Molten: Super Touch with the name "SZURKO on it. The other had the name "DANIEL A." on it but I'm not sure what brand. I'm really hoping it was an accident....

I apologize for starting this but the meetup clearly states that it is "intermediate" level play. This is open to interpretation but the player in question does not appear to have the basic passing skills for her to be able to play with more advanced players. Not only that, her reactions and and lack of movement on the court but her at risk of injury from a hard driven ball. I recommended to her that she try http://www.meetup.com/CNJVBC/ which has beginner level meetups and offers some basic drills for beginners.

Well I was not going to post anything here after yesterdays meetup, but I feel like some one personally attacked me here. I do believe I know who, the person who called her self "organizer". Rest of the people who attend this meetup was way to nice to do so.
For your info I have no problem to play with weaker players as long as they are divided evenly into separate teams. You have been asked to do so and refused to simply switch one player , how come you never put yourself into the team with weaker players?
I come to this place with impression that this is the intermediate level volleyball meetup. It would be....... if the "organizer" would spread teams evenly. Instead some of us stuck in team that have definitive disadvantage over others. As result of that YOU have 12 players who really didn't enjoy the game, count opposite team in.

PS. I DO PLAY competitive leagues but still looking for more good games . IF not YOU... it would be nice experience for sure. Good Luck

Dear Dominika, sorry you didn't have a good time. Perhaps there was some kind of misunderstanding - these things happen. Please do come back again :)

I consider myself a beginner player that want to have fun and also improve in volleyball, I was part of this team last night and I have to say that it was not fun for both teams watch the ball going to the ground every single time we had the chance to save a play. We barely did the 3 hits . So what's the point of having 12 players no having a good time when it is much easier to rotate players so it could be a competitive game for both, once you have spot a disadvantage team. I know that the organizer was aware of the weakness of our team but she refused to switch players once she was asked to do so, instead she argue with those who complained before the left the game.

If a person can't play up to minimum requirements, i.e. be able to consistently pass within 6' of the setter, then they should be refunded their money and asked to leave.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
