Play go at Fat Cat

Hi all!

We've been a bit scattered since the Meetup Offices have gone under renovation. Many thanks to all the people who've hosted events at various places around the city!

This weekend, we'll try out a new venue, Fat Cat. They charge $1 for people to play Go, Chess, and related games. It's a bar/cafe but during the day kids are welcome. Overall, we'll give it a shot and see how it works for us.

Aside from the $1 fee charged by Fat Cat, I won't be charging any other playing fee this time.

Equipment:

I'll be carrying 1 full size board w/ stones, and about 3-4 9x9 boards with me.

Everyone's encouraged to bring a board if they have one because we'll probably have a fairly large turnout and will need 5-7 boards to keep everyone playing. It's better to have more boards than not enough.

Depending on how this goes, we'll see if we want to visit other venues, and whether I need to buy another 3-5 boards for the club.

It was a good environment. Plenty of room on the tables. There is even live Jazz later in the day. There were players of various strengths.

At first I was disoriented where we should be, but everything went okay afterwards. Friendly staff and service.

There's no hard and fast end time, anyone's free to come and go as they want. It's very rare that we break up before 5-6pm, but it's also rare that we continue on until 7pm. 6pm's fairly late, and many players will be a bit worn out. There's always next time if you can't make this one.

guess I'll bring the magnetic go set as well :/ btw, anybody know how this $1 fee works? it's $1 per game or as many as you want? and do they mind people bringing more boards?

By my count, we have 5 full sized boards around (but some people might forget, or otherwise be unable to show up). Assuming 10-15 people show up, this we're slightly short on boards. We'll make do with what we have, but if you have a set, please considering bringing it in if possible.
