A Modest Proposal

A Modest Proposal
In these discussions about money for lectures, charging for playing go etc. One great way around this is to host the US Go Congress. The AGA shares the profits with the local club doing the congress. This can mean $10,000 or more if done right. There has never been a congress in NYC. And the word is the AGA is still looking for a group to step up for 2013.

I am currently directing my second congress, and although I do not intend to take on another one anytime soon (after 2012) I will be around for consultation.

It can be done! Our dedicated but inexperienced North Carolina group pulled off the most storied Congress in 2006, and 2012 is looking to be bigger and better than ever.

Now in North Carolina they bring down Guo and Yuan and people only pay $25-50 for a weekend workshop as the group subsidizes these things and turnout is great. And they NEVER charge for go club meetings.

NYC isn’t going to be upstaged by North Carolina is it?
