Last Chance Ride to Kelso Depot
Tuesday, Sept. 24th @ 10:30am
This could be our last chance to ride down to the Historic Kelso Train Station and eat at The Beanery, the original lunch counter from way back in the day. The Beanery is supposed to be closing in October. We'll meet at the M Resort Convenience Store (4161 St. Rose Pkwy) at 10:30am. From there we'll head down I-15 to the Valley Wells Rest Area for a short stop, then on to Baker, CA for gas. We'll enter the Mojave National Preserve (no fee) and ride down to Kelso, CA to see the museum and have lunch at the lunch counter. Then it's about 45 miles of back roads to Nipton, CA for a short lottery stop. Our next gas stop will be the Chevron at Primm, NV. After that it's only 20 more miles to the Historic Pioneer Saloon where we can kick back with a cold one. Stay as long as you like, leave when you like. The whole trip is about 200 miles, with more than half of it in or along the beautiful Mojave National Preserve. There'll be gas stops at 80 miles and 180 miles (100 miles later). Don't miss the last chance to experience this piece of history.
