ARR Free Beginners Skills Clinic

ARR Free Beginners Skills Clinic

Join ARR this Sunday morning (July 6) at Walnut Creek Park for a free beginner skills clinic before the regularly scheduled Sunday morning ride. Arrive early enough to prepare yourself and your bike, the clinic starts promptly at 8:30 and runs until the 9:30 start of the ARR ride.

This clinic is for ARR members only. Not a member, not a problem: it’s only $20/year for an individual and you can sign up at our web site or at the event (ask for Paulette, she will take care of you)

I'm glad you enjoyed the clinic. The next ARR skills clinic will be the first Sunday of August.

The Ridge Riders monthly ride will be this coming Saturday at Muleshoe Bend park west of Austin. It is a fairly easy trail--I rode there a lot when I first started riding.

I'm a complete novice and Ken & Valerie held a clinic that was extremely helpful with getting my feet wet with this new sport. I've got a long way to go but I'm looking forward to learning more and more. I hope there will be more clinics like this one in the near future.

Just a reminder that this clinic is for Austin Ridge Riders Members only. Not a member yet? No worries, find me on the parking island in the pool parking lot. I'll be in a yellow Lucky Labrador jersey, and I'll have membership forms. It's just $20 a year or $35 for a family for a year.

Paulette: I'll try to make it out and help out with the group.

I have never really gone mountain biking, but I think I would like to get into it. I currently have a Trek Hybrid bike. Could I use this bike for the clinic or should I wait until I buy a mountain bike? I'd love to try the clinic and try mountain biking before making a big financial investment, so am hoping that I can use this bike. Thanks.

Prashanth - if you're comfortable on the bike and it's in good working order, then ride what you've got. You will be able to make better decisions about what to purchase based on what you learn in the clinic. I do suggest that tires with some knobbies are required, as even Walnut can be slick on road tires.

Thanks Paulette, Ken. My tires are not road tires and do have grooves. I'll give it a shot and will start shopping around for a new bike. Thanks and see you then.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
