December ARR Club Ride @ Rocky Hill Ranch

Saturday, December 8, 2012 - 10:00 a.m.

Saturday December 8's ride is during Rocky Hill Ranch's Jordan's Challenge - The 2nd Annual Fofenique Poker and Chili Cook-Off. Registration is $30 per person, kids 14 and under are free. Fee includes day use fee for Saturday and Sunday, one night camping, parking, the Chili Cook-Off and 1 free drink. There is no entry fee for the Poker Race or the Chili cook-off.

We strongly encourage you to come out and help support this effort. The Maxwell Family's (most of you know Greg) lovely daughter Jordan was recently diagnosed with Systemic Lupus and Juvenile Arthritis and this annual event will raise funds for the Lupus Foundation of America and other children who may not have the resources they need to deal with the disease. This is NOT a fund raiser for Jordan (although that would be a wonderful cause). This  fundraiser was Jordan's idea to raise money for other patients and their family who have lupus. Not only is she a tough little fighter, she has the heart of an angel and we want to help make this a great event.

Because he is such a great guy, Greg has offered to allow ARR Ride participants and others to still come out and ride the trails at the regular day use fees. We encourage ARR Members to donate their reimbursement to the cause.

You do not have to be an ARR member to participate but we'd love to have you join. ARR Members in good standing will be reimbursed the day fee and if you are unsure about your membership status, please email [masked] and we will check and let you know.

As always, we will be breaking into groups based on skill level and then we'll hit the trail with the "No Drop" policy in effect so no one gets left behind. All participants must sign a waiver and properly wear a helemt when on a bicycle.

ARR will be hosting a post-ride lunch and everyone is encouraged to bring something to share (fruit, chips, sweets, etc.)

Please RSVP or email us to let us know you'll be riding. It helps us plan for food and drinks!!

We are also going to join in the spirit of the season with a "White Elephant Gift Exchange". This is always great fun so if you would like to participate...bring a strange, odd, funky, clunky, weird, cheesy or unusual something to put under our tree. It is always great fun to watch what kind of surprises are unwrapped and the reactions of the recipient.

Directions:The ranch is located in Smithville, Texas. Take I-35 South to Hwy 71. Go east on 71 towards Bastrop. Continue through Bastrop to Smithville Texas. Take the loop 230 exit and then turn left under 71, at this point you'll be on FM 153. Go 2.3 miles on FM153 and you'll see the gate on the left.

Description: You name it, they've got it, all levels, all lengths. The main loop is about 16 miles total and you'll encounter a wide variety of trails, from the straightforward jeep trails to ledges, short climbs, twists through the trees, bunny hops over logs and more.  Of course, you'll have to face Fat Chuck at the start of your ride and it is a serious climb!

Contact Information:Call[masked] for riding or camping information.   Rocky Hill is open 24/7/365!

Hey All! We'll be grilling sausages for wraps. Bring something tasty to share but remember Jordans' Challenge is also going on and there is a Chili Cook Off planned. Don't forget to sign BOTH the ARR waiver AND the RHR waiver. It is going to be a GREAT Day at the Ranch!!!
