The Lawless Village Presents a Free Epic Holiday Ride!

So I was asked by the Lawless Village MTB Group who are also known as LoCo MTB group to invite my Gears and Beers peeps to ride with them.
This will be a 35-50 mile group ride.
Turn sheets and maps will be provided. There will be no aid stations so pack enough food. There will be oppertunities to purchase food and drinks on the route.
So bring your holiday spirit to this ride! It will be lots of fun.

By the way, picture #1 in my profile shows me crossing the deep, wide river of the MoCo Epic North 65 miler. I take my shoe & socks off and carry them. I walk on the up stream side of the rope because the river is calm and the bottom is flat. When I get to the other side, I dry my feet with the top of my long socks. I depart with dry, warm feet.

We rode MoCo South, 38 miles: Fun flow, great peeps, some of the best trails in Montgomer Co, MD.

We rode MoCo Epic South, 38 miles by my count. Great folks out today, thanks for handing me the helm. 'Twas my pleasure. I froze my rear shift thumb at 8:45 AM, but it came back by 10 AM.

Fantastic ride today! For those that couldn't make it we road hard for you and indulged in a few brewskies after.

Chris sorry you can't make it. Maybe next time.

OK now to pump this up. The Senenca Ridge Trial is one of the funnest, most beautiful trails on the East Coast, MORE fun than any roller coaster. MoCO South as we call it, features curvy, swoopy trails, and perhap the funnest downhill run in Montgomery Co. Don't miss this great ride.

    1 · December 14, 2012

    • Michael W

Hummm, you got me there. Perhaps Senenca Ridge is a different kind of fun- continuous pedal pumping, flowing, swoopy, turny, with some climbing.

Don, I see how it plotted. It is one more street down. It's a dirt road that will take you to the parking lot along the woodline. Do you have an iPhone? I can send you a drop pin

There is a challenging water crossing on Seneca Bluffs Trail; expect wet feet. But at least it's near the end of the ride. After all, this is the MoCo Epic.

      Roger that. Bring your booties!

So... the map link shows what looks like a private residence and an above ground pool... is that really the meeting spot? (just checking... never been here.)

    December 14, 2012

  • Christine B.

Chris we look forward to meeting you!

    December 13, 2012

Christine I have a question. 35-50 miles is a broad range. Any idea if they plan on breaking into groups for different distances or they will just decide as they go how long it will be. Just curious what the general thoughts are. Assume with turn sheets everyone may just be on their own.

    December 13, 2012

    • JT

Jay, I agree. I have my MOCO map somewhere and it is really hard to follow.

      December 13, 2012

    • chris r.

I'm new to the area and would down for riding those two trails. Never been.

      1 · December 13, 2012

  • Michael W

Is this going to be on the MoCo Epic trails? Is it MoCo Epic North or MoCo Epic South? Please note that the MoCo Epic North route has a deep wide river crossing that's creates wet feet. In the freezing cold, that's not good for the remaining 30 miles. At any rate, I'm in. I'll take my shoes off and wade across the river.

    December 13, 2012

    • Jay T.

Michael this is a great point and thanks for bringing it up. As previously stated the cue map is a challenge to read and w/ out markers, aid stations, etc. this might turn into a group ride at Schaeffer and Seneca Creek.
