Anker, Chin, and Ozturk on the Shark's Fin, Meru (in Berkeley)

Three huge alpinist badasses talking about the Shark's Fin, one of the biggest, badass climbs in recent memory. Should be an awesome talk. See description and link below for tickets.

The North Face® Athletes and AAC members Conrad Anker, Jimmy Chin, and Renan Ozturk return to the Garwhal Himalaya in Northern India to climb and summit the Shark’s Fin, a 5,000 foot rock and ice feature that no one has summited to this day. Having narrowly missed the summit during their 2008 attempt, the team is more determined and prepared to conquer the summit in 2011. This will be Conrad’s 3rd attempt on the Sharks Fin. In the game of high-altitude big-wall climbing, the Shark’s Fin lies right at the boundary of what’s possible. The peak’s inaccessible beauty has inspired many of the world’s best alpinists to attempt it in the past 25 years. In September 2008, over the course of 19 day attempt, The North Face® team faced severe storm, starvation rations, mind riot climbing and had an epic of their own.

BAMMites! For those of you who build up a thirst after hearing about these guys crushing it on Meru, let's head over to Jupiter to grab some beers afterward. They have a side entrance into their patio just across the street on Allston, or the front entrance is at 2181 Shattuck Ave. See you then!

Speaking of the $8 ticket -- as I mentioned, Brower isn't that big, and if this is the sort of reaction we get on BAMM in the first 24 hours, I'll bet this thing is going to be pretty popular. So getting a reserved seat would probably be a good idea.

yeah! Kim, I got $8 tix as well, and beers afterward sound great! love that you'll be up on my side this time :)

I bought an $8 ticket since I'm driving from the sobay and don't want to potential have no room left when I arrive. Beer after could be good depending on what time. :D Thanks for organizing Rob!

Hey folks, cool response in the first few hours. We should grab beers after. I'll find some good place before the event and post plans here. Stay tuned!

General Admission tickets are "based on availability." Does this mean they will "sell out" quickly, or you might get turned away at the door?

Your guess is as good as mine. Brower Center is not that big, but this also isn't baseball.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
