Hi Monsters

I've changed the session time of ITS A FREE WORLD....check out the changed time!

Make sure you have gone to the Message Board and read the Procedures. It is the first entry 'SYDNEY MOVIE MONSTERS PROCEDURE - ALL MONSTERS PLEASE READ'. This is essential. If you are not regularly reading the Message Board, start reading it, this is how we (the Organisers) communicate with you and where you can start discussions to involve all the Movie Monsters.

So....now you have read the Procedures...right? OK, on to the film! Here is the film's synopsis:

ITS A FREE WORLD
LIMITED 1-WEEK EXCLUSIVE SEASON! ONLY AT DENDY NEWTOWN.
Directed by Ken Loach
Starring Kierston Wareing, Juliet Ellis, Leslaw Zurek

Angie may not have much formal education but she's got energy, wit and ambition, and she's in her prime. Not for the first time she's out of a job. She has a point to prove. Angie and her flatmate Rose decide they can be their own boss. They set up a recruitment agency for immigrant workers, which operates in a twilight world where labour is cheap and laws are made to be ignored. Maybe they represent these times: the chance to make as much money as possible, regardless of the consequences, is tempting. But at what cost?

Anything by Ken Loach is not to be missed!

We will adjourn for coffee, tea, dessert - whatever! - afterward most probably at Cafe C, our cafe of choice for Dendy evenings. However this isn't a definite - if the cafe is full (something we can't anticipate until we get there) we will be off somewhere else in King Street.

See you at the movies!
Kimberly

How can Dendy Newtown do this to me, the one week I'm away and I'm a big Ken Loach fan, well I guess that's my karma. Can anyone secretly video this for me, oh! sorry that's illegal, will have to wait for the DVD or maybe SBS might show it. Everyone who is lucky enough to go and see it, have a great night.

Thanks Thomas, however I don't know if any of these will still be on in March. If you haven't seen The Wrestler, oh my god, do go! Anyway, keep on sending those suggestions.

    •  This movie left me feeling a bit down about the state of the world we live in. I found the main character hard to like and had a lot of sympathy for the immigrants. The cinema was completely empty except the meetup group and a couple - made it feel quite odd
