Movie "LIFE OF PI" - Love Offering to Church Accepted

Life of Pi Based on Yann Martel's best-selling novel, this coming-of-age tale recounts the adventures of Pi, an Indian boy who is the sole survivor of a shipwreck. Pi finds himself on a lifeboat with only some zoo animals for company.

Life of Pi is a 2012 American 3D adventure drama film based on Yann Martel's 2001 novel of the same name. Directed by Ang Lee, the film is based on an adapted screenplay by David Magee, and stars Suraj Sharma, Irrfan Khan, Gérard Depardieu, Tabu, and Adil Hussain.

The storyline revolves around a 16-year old boy named Piscine Molitor "Pi" Patel, who survives a shipwreck in which his family dies, and is stranded in the Pacific Ocean on a lifeboat with a Bengal tiger named Richard Parker.

The film had its worldwide premiere as the opening film of the 50th New York Film Festival at both the Walter Reade Theater and Alice Tully Hall in New York City on September 28, 2012.

Curious, what is the maximum # this venue can handle from our group? I was thinking of inviting a few others to join us but not sure if there is still space?
Mahalo Alison for coordinating us (again. :)

I'm so bummed that I was not able to make it! A 6am photo shoot the next morning does not make for a good combination.

How many people ACTUALLY came to this one? There were so many RSVPs. :-)

I found the "pink shirt (J.d.)" plus 5-6 others sitting there (and then saw 2 others at the film's end, whom I knew from a previous meetup in another group), but gather more were around. I'm glad I got a ride home (as it was very dark, and didn't know exactly where the bus stop home was!) as I went on a bus and walked 7-8 blocks there. I also noticed that Gail said, there were no buses going back at that hour? That would be my only problem with going to this venue, as it was a nice comfortable setting, much better than another place I had gone that had hard plastic seats. Really good film!

Well, usually this movie has very, very few people but this time it was full house...

Didn't actually meet up with anyone since I walked in just as the movie started, but enjoyed the movie! Hopefully I will meet the group next time...

It's very informal... Just be as social as you want and introduce yourself here as well as there.. I'm leaving a lot up to the members on that end.. I'm mostly trying to provide a means to that for people.

    Maybe?

    March 15, 2013

Please do give a love offering donation of a few dollars to the church when you go (if you are able), perhaps a few dollars. They will pass the basket I believe. THANX!

How will I find the group? May we bring in food & drink? Thanks!

    February 24, 2013

Usually not a large crowd, there will be others there and people just chat... not sure about this one I'll have to find out. They sometimes have free (donation) popcorn and water, I think it's OK but will get back on this.

I have the same question as Li and I see no one has answered it. since I invited guests, I'd hate to get there and be turned away from lack of room. Anyone know if other groups are also invited?
