Ok - a long promised and previously undelivered "alternative offering" (the 2nd this weekend actually, wink, along with Roman Holiday) from "Oregon Expat productions"! Apart from my big studio / big-budget leanings, I really do enjoy a good film from smaller / independent studios and international movie industries around the world... in this case, the renowned movie-making industry in India.

Let's try a something a little different and explore some of the rich and extensive catalog of good Indian films being put out every year... Meet me at the BFI Southbank along a beautiful stretch of the Thames in high July Summer!

UPDATE (Saturday, 6 July): I changed the date to Sunday the 21st of July, for our event. The festival runs all over London, but I thought the best location for it would be the vibrant (and beautiful) Southbank at Waterloo bridge... and BFI's offering for the LIFF is only on Sunday.
As it is now a Sunday event, thought we could meet to socialize prior to the film, instead of after (it should end approximately 1800 / 6PM). So - let's meet inside the Riverfront Bar (outside if the weather is nice) for lunch and/or drinks at 2PM. The BFI cinema entrance is just around the corner. After the film, there is a nice bar inside the BFI near the information Desk and bookstore that people can meet for drinks if they want to stick around longer.
Here is a Review from the BFI webpage for our film, "Good Road":
Directed by Gyan Correa
With Sonali Kulkarni, Ajay Gehi, Keval Katrodia, Shamji Dhana Kerasia
Running time 107 min
A metaphysical road movie following three sets of people as they travel along a desolate stretch of highway in India’s Kutch region. A young boy from Mumbai, separated from his parents, is befriended by a truck driver and his surly assistant who are on a perilous smuggling trip, and a young girl on a deeply personal quest is in imminent danger of becoming part of the flesh trade. The stark beauty of one of India’s most isolated and dangerous locations is strikingly captured in this debut feature. [END REVIEW]
UPDATE (Saturday 20 July): Alas - something has come up and I cannot be there to host this fantastic event. It will still go forward, and everyone can use the COMMENTS section here on the page to coordinate to meet up. The event showtime again for "Good Road" is 4PM - and there should still be tickets available. My suggestion is for everyone to meet in advance of the film at the Riverfront Bar (under the Waterloo Bridge on the Southbank - it is directly in front of where the Book Fair tables usually are) at say, 2PM. That way everyone has time to get there and socialize, and then go together to the cinema. Again - my apologies for having to step down from running this event. Hope everyone has a good time, and I hope to see you at another one soon.
WHAT: The movie "Good Road" (London Indian Film Festival)
