The Seventh Seal directed by Ingmar Bergman

The classic Ingmar Bergman which sealed his reputation as a master auteur. Ive never seen it but why pass up the opportunity. this is what IMDb has to say and this is what the BFI says

As usual I'll wait at the ticket tills at the BFI half an hour before the screening starts. The BFI rarely has adverts or trailers so films starts promptly. There should be time to go for drinks afterwards to compare notes, and maybe scratch our heads.

Link to buy tickets

I'll email everyone who has RSVPd YES the night before screening with my details.

I missed this one but definitely hoping to join in for some of the next 'less than mainstream' films

One of the most renowned Bergman works. Not my first time time to watch it, but I'm eager to watch it again on the big screen this time and looking forward to a nice discussion afterwards.

Well, it's certainly one of those films that are a bit difficult to describe, with much symbolism and different interpretations. A crusader knight returns to his hometown that's hit by the plague (historical accuracy is ignored here), meets death on the way and convinces him/it to play a game of chess trying to halt him/it as long as possible from taking his life. A poetic work about life, death, faith, courage, .. stuff like that.
