Funny Face (Audrey Hepburn/Fred Astaire)

£6 Tuesdays at the BFI.  £6 Tickets Sold Out.  Full Price tickets still available.

A fashion shoot in a bookstore accidentally uncovers shop clerk, Jo (Audrey Hepburn) as the next big thing in modelling. She’s whisked off to Paris to be turned into a cover girl, but finds her interest drawn to the city’s nightlife rather than wearing an endless stream of glamorous dresses.

“Long before The Devil wears Prada and Ugly Betty there was Paramount Studio’s Funny Face – a delicious, tongue-in-cheek nod to the fashion world, which has all the traits of a classic MGM musical” Heather Osborn, BFI website

“Funny Face knocks most other musicals off the screen for its visual beauty, its witty panache and its totally uncalculating charm - which is everywhere. Love triumphs over capitalist exploitation, joyless intellectualisation, and all things phony. It persuades because of the commitment and skill of its team and the lightness of the director’s underrated touch” Time Out London Movie Guide

Tickets can be booked HERE

I will send out an e-mail with meeting details shortly before the date to all those who have RSVP’ed

Very enjoyable film and nice to meet people. Sorry I didn't get to talk to more people, but hope to see the group again.

Charming movie. You can't go wrong with Audrey. I wish I spoke French though as I am sure I'd enjoy it even more.

If there is a chance to view 'safety last' by Harold Lloyd at some point I would love to see it again as it is hilarious! Classic black n white film

This is my first meeting with this group. Are there any plans to meet at the NFT before the film? I could be there from 7pm onwards. Howard

Hi Howard. We will definitely meet before the movie for a drink, but it may not be the BFI bar as (despite its appealing ambience) it is usually completely packed, alas.

Hi Gavin, seems like meetup site has only just gone back online - can you confirm when/what time we are meeting before the film? Many thanks, Howard.

Booked my ticket; as you said, all the cheap seats have gone. I'm E8

Hi, this will be my first meeting with this group. Do you generally try to co-ordinate the group to sit near each other or is it a case of buying any seat you want when pre-booking and then meeting up before and after the film?

    February 22, 2014

    • Gavin

Hi Cheryl. For films with allocated seats, and with everyone booking separately, it's usually not possible to coordinate sitting together (though in this case, quite a few of us will be sitting in Rows K & L, as that's where the 'offer' tickets were located). We will definitely meet up before (and probably more briefly afterwards) though.

Even love the advert for Cadbury's which has an animated version of AH.

Yay I love Hepburn movies!!! This will be a pleasure to watch and would not want to miss it. I already booked the ticket. The funny thing about this is that in the morning I will be returning from a little "Roman Holiday"!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
