You heard it here first: Helena Bonham Carter is in a movie that Johnny Depp and Tim Burton aren't slapped all over. True story.
T.S. Spivet tells the story of a young genius with a passion for cartography and scientific instruments. One day he receives a letter from the prestigious Smithsonian Museum offering him an award for his discovery of a perpetual motion machine, and he's invited to a ceremony half across the country to collect it. He decides not to tell his family about the trip and instead packs a case and leaves them a note before heading off on a great adventure... If only he wasn't ten years old.
Starring Kyle Catlett, Judy Davis, Callum Keith Rennie and of course the lady Bonham Carter, The Young and Prodigious T. S Spivet comes from the same director as Amelie and Delicatessen, Jean-Pierre Jeunet. Generally well-received (7.2 on IMDB right now, 80% on Rotten Tomatoes) it also won a Cesar Award for its cinematography.
I've picked a 3D showing because the screening times for 3D were better placed and no-one had stated a preference. Tickets are £7.30 with a 70p supplement if you need 3D glasses and you can book them here. The screen time is actually 6.20pm, Meetup just doesn't let you pick anything that isn't a multiple of 15 :-)
Those who have RSVP'd will receive full details the night before the meet and we'll aim to go on to a bar after.
