The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared

A Swedish comedy caper film based on the highly successful novel of the same name, The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared follows dynamite expert Allan Karlsson, who absconds from his nursing home on the day of his hundredth birthday.

He finds himself bound up in an adventure when he accidentally gets his hands on a suitcase full of money belonging to a group of drug dealers and as his escapades unfold - and with the dealers and the police chasing him - the film tells the story not just of his birthday adventure but also of the fascinating century of Allan's life before.

Having been compared to Forrest Gump, not least because of the historical figures Allan's life puts him in contact with, the film has had a somewhat varied response but is nonetheless currently in IMDB's top 5000 with 7.1/10 and the source novel was an international bestseller.  Directed by Felix Herngren it stars Robert Gustafsson as Allan.

You can book tickets here, and as always we'll be staying on for a drink after the film.   Please note this is a Tuesday meet (I say that solely because of how happily we stalk Barbican Mondays around here lol).

Full details will be sent to those who have RSVP'd the night before the event.

enjoyable, although a little uneven, however the overall message of 'don't sweat the small stuff/sh*t happens' was cool!

Dear Michelle. Good morning. I'm afraid I haven't received details for this MeetUp tonight. Shall I resend my email details? Or do I just turn up? If so, what time & where? How will we identify ourselves for getting together afterwards? Please respond. Thanks. Aimee

We each book our own tickets, yes, and people generally book where they prefer dependant on eyesight etc. I'll be in row E though, for what it's worth :)

Argh! This was a great book, and I would have loved to have seen the film, but there's no way I can get to the Barbican for 6.15 :(

    • Michelle

I know it doesn't make all that much difference but there's generally about 15 mins of ads at the Barbican, if that's any help at all.

Hi Michelle, thanks for this. i'd never be able to get to the Barbican for even 6.30, as I work in Southgate :(. Have fun though!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
