Hello,

In no particular order:

1. Titanic - we know what's going to happen before the opening credits finish smile

2. Star Wars 1 to 3 - Please, someone make George Lucas suffer the way he made the world suffer confused

3. Captivity - Please, no. For the love of God, who gave the green light?

a) The Royal Tannenbaums

b) Meet the Fokkers (except for Robert de Niro)

c) That one with Robin Williams where he's a tramp and lies on the grass looking at the stars. Is it a Terry Gilliam movie?

Rob, I'll have to applaud you on your nomination of 'Captivity' as a very shit film indeed.
I haven't seen it, and can honestly say I don't need to.
In fact, I'd put the whole torture porn/gorno genre in as 'worst films' simply because they are artless wastes of space which bring down the horror genre by having no psychological elements whatsoever and which generally degrade women for no reason but the glaringly stereotypical masculine love of mindless violence.

What's even worse is when women (generally young girls, actually) think this kind of thing is cool, allowing themselves to fall into expecting such shit as if its progressive.

Can somebody please kill gorno, or is it already dead?

Is it the movie promoting torture, rape and sexual exploitation of women ?shock

Its the undercurrents in these films and their target audience.
Although a film like this 'redeems itself' by generally having the female character 'win', this isn't how the film is sold- its sold as 'get off on seeing a woman abused' which is exactly the audience it attracts.
The fact that films like this are made by mysogenistic middle aged men rather than women shows that the undercurrents are actually quite deep seated.

And then damaged girls who go and see it with their boyfriends think its OK to be abused because you'll 'win' in the end... I'm sure these films are made by the same people who give blokes 2 year rape sentences- IE middle aged mysogenists.
Oh well; it won't last.
If only more women made films about this sort of thing, they might have some point.

I don't think there are many girls who think its OK to be abused, the public is probably mostly stupid men anyway ( I don't mean men are stupid but only the ones who enjoy it).

You're optimist with your 2 year sentences, I have meet many abused women and the rapist didn't go in jail at all !

Absoloutly! Men always get away with it by saying something like "you saw what she was wearing" and that holds up in court!!!!(?)

And yes, films along these lines that are made by women are much more sensitively addressed, and sad old middle aged men should follow their example. But this, sadly, will never happen; stylised snuff/glorified porn will always seep into the mainstream. And it's so wrong.

P.S., Gabriel, I don't apreciate you refering to these girls as "damaged".

Or because her "no" was not clear enough, or even because she didn't slap him hard enough so it was not obvious that she didn't want it -already heard in court !-

Yeah, what do you mean by "damaged" ? That abused girls are damaged ?

I just saw The Golden Compass, which must rank pretty badly considering all the money that was thrown at it plus the book it was adapted from, by Phillip Pullman, was very highly rated.
