Indigenous Voices Series
Screening: "Mapuche: The Return of a Nation" (2005, 70 minutes)
Pablo Garcia's "Mapuche: The Return of a Nation" documents the
struggles of the Mapuche community to gain recognition as a nation while defending its
language and traditions. Through these struggles, an unique debate has emerged
within Argentinian society about the basis of citizenship. Hosted by WBAI's
Tiokasin Ghosthorse, Indigenous Voices is a monthly series about ethnic
identity, sovereignty, and the possibilities for Indigenous peoples to direct
their own fates.
172 Allen Street @ Stanton (1 block south of Houston) phone: 212-777-6028
