Oblivion(7 PM Imax Show)

  • April 20, 2013 · 6:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

We are seeing the 7PM Imax show.  I will be at the theater around 6.   We will gather near the ropes by the concession stand downstairs unless/until they let us line up in the inner lobby.  We will go in for seats, as soon as they let us.   If you want to sit with the group...don't come late.

About Buying Advanced Tickets:

  • I encourage everyone to consider buying your tickets in advance.  We see most movies on opening weekend and they do often sell out.
  • Fandango.com is the site that this movie theater uses.  Be warned though, there are sometimes hiccups to the system, especially the mobile app.
  • Not being able to complete a transaction does not mean they are sold out.  Please don't post a comment to the site that the movie is sold out.  Zip me an email and I will check it out. If it is indeed sold out, I will let people know.

If you miss the group ahead of time, come find us after. We gather in the hallway outside of the theater we just saw the movie in, to discuss the film a bit, allow for restroom breaks and to get a head count of all those who would like to go out after for drinks and munchies.

$$$$Managing the after event is much easier if everyone brings cash, so please plan ahead if you want to go out with the group after.$$$

Plot Summary: Tom Cruise stars in "Oblivion," an original and groundbreaking cinematic event from the director of "TRON: Legacy" and the producer of "Rise of the Planet of the Apes." On a spectacular future Earth that has evolved beyond recognition, one man's confrontation with the past will lead him on a journey of redemption and discovery as he battles to save mankind.

Jack Harper (Cruise) is one of the last few drone repairmen stationed on Earth. Part of a massive operation to extract vital resources after decades of war with a terrifying threat known as the Scavs, Jack's mission is nearly complete.

Living in and patrolling the breathtaking skies from thousands of feet above, his soaring existence is brought crashing down when he rescues a beautiful stranger from a downed spacecraft. Her arrival triggers a chain of events that forces him to question everything he knows and puts the fate of humanity in his hands.

"Oblivion" was shot in stunning digital 4K resolution on location across the United States and Iceland.

Movie was pretty good. Nothing all that original, but it kept my attention and had people discussing/debating the details after which is always a good sign. Visuals were really great...totally worth it to see it in IMAX! After event was lively and fun. Nice way to break up a really hard week.

GREAT meetup. And, even with Tom Cruise, Man of Wood, the movie didn't totally stink, either. Thanks, again, D.

Movie was OK. Tom Cruise doesn't age. Movie was little hard to follow, but the visual was great. Could have used more Morgan Freeman. Worth seeing in imax

Fandango link still down as of 11:30 AM, so hopefully it comes back up... This is my first week (to the day!) in Boston and I was hoping to celebrate with a Meetup!

I talked to the theater just now (9:30AM Saturday) and they have just got in. It will take a while for them to get their business operations up and running....they had to lock everything down, including links to Fandango. They are not giving me an estimated time, but I would say give them a couple of hours and things should be all set. But they are definitely open tonight! :)

Just an "FYI": a/o 1:30pm, 4/19/13-Tried, unsuccessfully, to order tickets on Fandango. Called theatre directly. Of course, they're on lock-down with the rest of Boston-"at a standstill"-They have "no idea" when they'll re-open.

Cruise did OK in Minority Report. And, I haven't seen any couches in the previews. So, it might be worth seeing.

The title of this film was taken from a description of my life, so, I kinda have to see it, to find out how everything turns out. ;-p lol
