ABOUT US
Welcome!
Do you love going to out to the movies but don't want to go alone?
To solve that we offer you membership as a free service. Please read through this description if you're interested.
We offer "Fans" the opportunity to go to the movies with like minded people. This group is intended for adults. At most events, responsible adults may bring minors over the age of twelve. We sometimes have family events where all ages are welcome.
Membership (General):
Membership is free (more on that a little later) and open to all social and marital statuses and ages above 18. Eligible walkins and guests are welcome.
What we do:
We do more than just sit around and watch movies. We always like to socialize over munchies and drinks before and/or after the movie. On occasion, we participate in non-movie type events. We cover both Pinellas and Hillsborough counties.
If you want to join:
So, you would like to join us? - AWESOME!!!! Read on!

Remember when we told you that membership is free? Instead of $$, we need you to:
- Post a recognizable photo of your face as the primary photo on your profile. If this is a problem please contact the Organizer
- Read through this description. Particularly "The Five and a Half Rules" .
- Answer all the profile questions. Especially the one that asks if you read the rules- you can think of it as the "I Agree to the Terms of Service" check box you encounter in everything else you do online.
Rules?
They are there because we are trying to look out for you. Consider: we bring people that do not know each other to sit together in a movie theater. Sometimes they can bring their kids. We have rules for everyone's interest. There are only five (and a half) of them. Each one was created because someone did something the caused problems for the group in the past.
The Five and a Half Rules:
This Meetup faces some special challenges:
We gather people together in close proximity and many of them do not know each other.
We have a limited number of venues to have our events.
We often have to travel long distances to these venues.
We rely heavily on having good relationships with each other and businesses.
RULE 1: Profile Photo
The security of our Fans is the most important to us. We require those requesting to join us to post a recognizable photo of themselves. If there is a reason that you can not do this, we can make exceptions if you contact us. We want to able to verify that you are who you say you are and not a Fan's psycho-ex stalker, or a marketeer that's just here to target the Group, or a spy or saboteur(yep! I've seen that happen in other groups)
RULE 2: Correspondence
Please respond to emails, that were sent by Group officers, directly to you, with the intention of resolving a Group related issue. Typically, such an email would concern a NoShow or some Rule violation, or that a complaint from another member and we want to give you a fair shake.
RULE 3: Courtesy
Please use verbal and written communication or photos on the Group website, at Group events and in Group emails that is not rude, nor disparaging, nor would be considered inappropriate in a family or professional setting. I can get a little nervous when someone is antagonizing a security guard or a restaurant staff that handles my food where I cannot see them. (See the movie "Road Trip")
RULE 4: RSVP's
Please keep RSVPs to Group events up to date. We try to wait up for the people that responded "Yes" to a calendar event. NoShows are taken very seriously. It is very inconvenient to wait for someone that did not tell us that they were not coming after all. If you respond "Yes" to an event, but cannot attend the event, we will need you to notify the Host of the event, or a Group Officer, before or immediately after the event.
Most event Hosts will post cell phone numbers where they may be reached before and during an event.
We will also try to follow-up with unaccounted people via email. Those that do not respond are subject to removal. (See RULE: 2)
RULE 5: Site Use
IMPORTANT: this site is not free. The Organizer pays regular fees to Meetup.com to organize this group. Unlike many other meetup groups, we do not pass the cost along to its members at this time. In return we ask Fans not use the Site for their personal advertising nor agenda. Please keep all postings on the site within the spirit of the Group's purpose.
Last, but not least...
RULE 5.5 :
Please, if you have questions or requests, ask. That is what we are here for.
See these rules aren't so bad. Are they?
Event Planning
I work with my Superbly Awesome Assistant Organizers ( or "S.A.A.O.s") and volunteer Hosts in deciding what to schedule. We take into consideration:
What's coming out with good buzz.
Fans' requests (message board,emails,word-of-mouth).
Scheduling feasibilty
Rendevous
We meet at a designated spots at the different theaters. For consistency, the meeting spots that are usually on the left, as you walk in. We try to wait for our 'Yes' respondents, then we take our seats.
Meetup Spots
Go to the link on the Site that says "Photos". There is a photo album called"Our Meetup Spots"
We've posted photos of where we meet at most of the theaters we go to. (Tampa Theater is one exception. Beautiful place, tough to take pictures)
After the show, and sometimes before, we decide on a nearby location for our 'After-Movie Social Hour'. It's usually dinner, coffee, drinks or desert.
Thanks for reading this through and, as I said earlier, every Fan can come to me with questions, requests or concerns.
Sincerely,
Lee
