There was some discussion about a meet up around seeing Rodriguez play on May 31st up in Los Angeles. The Cheapest ticket is 131$ I will think about it but that may be just a bit too much for me. However here is a link to the ticket if you all want to go. http://www.vividseats.com/concerts/rodriguez-tickets/rodriguez-luckman-fine-arts-complex-5-31-1513906.html

Well worth the effort, this guy should have been the next Bob Dylan except for his circumstances in Detroit. Awesome songwriter and even more awesomer singer. Count me in... Dan the man you did it again.

DEREK WHAT HAPPENED IN DETROIT. THKS

      2 · January 28, 2014

    • Derek J.

The folk scene was located in Greenwich Village so by staying in Detroit he was out of the spotlight and he chose manual labour rather that pursuing a music career and I guess poor management didn't help.

This is a very interesting documentary because Sixto Rodriguez was a very uncommon man. Although he loved playing the guitar, writing and singing songs, he spend most of his life working hard labor jobs. Only a few people in America liked his music or knew of him, but in the early 1970's he had thousands of fans in South Africa. Rodriguez did not find out about his amazing popularity in South Africa until a couple of guys who wanted to see if was even alive contacted one of his three daughters in 1996. What a great story this is about a very unusual man.
