Join us for the Grand Parade at DRAGONCON! The Parade actually steps off at 10 am...they always want us there early. So come early, socialize, have a snort........and cause some mischief with the Trekies, Furries, and NINJAS!

Here is the official jargon: The parade route has changed and is posted at www.dragoncon.org/images/pdfs/ParadeRoute2013.pdf. Starts at the corner of Spring Street and West Peachtree, goes north on Spring then turns right on  Ivan Allen Blvd. and then turns right onto Peachtree, continuing to Andrew Young and a left turn, then a left on Peachtree Center. The parade ends at the Marriott Marquis. On parade morning, vehicles and drivers should be at the assembly area near Spring and West Peachtree no later than 9:00AM. Marchers should be start assembling at the MeAssBeDragon between 9 and 9:30AM. Nothing to be given away this year.....no tossing no handing nothing..per the director!

By available spots, are we talking about only 2 pirates max? My crew consists of 7 scurvies ( wife, 3xkids, mother-in-law and aunty who is visiting from a far off land). Any clarification appreciated. Thanks in advance!

    August 25, 2013

    • Ruben and Ale D.

No problem. I'm bringing the whole crew tomorrow and will see you all as spectators from the side. Will try to get a position near the Hard Rock café. If they sell tickets on Sunday, maybe my wife and I can attend for the day. Thanks just the same! Be seeing you!

      1 · August 30, 2013

    • Georgia B.

Aye, they do have Sunday tickets. $40 a head I believe.

Have 30 wristbands in my possession for the parade tomorrow, could not procure more. There are several pirate groups signed up who will be walking the route. If you are wanting to be on the ship, come to the north end of Hardy Ivy Park and look for the ship. If you plan on walking, you can come by the ship for your wristband and then proceed to the south end of the park where the walkers will be staged. The ship and the walkers will be merged together when the parade starts. If anyone now finds herself/himself unable to attend, please let me know as there are some pirates who are wanting to go and we have no slots left. See you at the parade, me hearties!

Do we need to register with D*C to walk in the parade?

    August 1, 2013

    • Anita

We are registered as a group so I don't think so. I tried to register separately once and they told me to find Ferguss, who was standing behind me! LOL!

      August 29, 2013

    • Georgia B.

As far as the parade is concerned, I will be picking up the wrist bands this evening. I will be handing them out at the staging area on Saturday or as I see folks wandering around. As for a DragonCon pass, they can be purchased on Saturday starting at 8am I believe and cost $50 for a day pass. Keep in mind that if anyone asks for your DragonCon badge and you don't have one, you will probably be asked to leave the parade area.

Civic center station puts you closer to staging area. Exit at Southwest exit of station, walk one block south crossing Ivan Allen, then take right on next small street into staging area. My celly is[masked]

Ahoy ship mates. I plan to be at the Con Friday through Sunday but I will be for the most part alone. Are there any meeting places setup or parties during the con? Lonely pirate here.

    August 27, 2013

    • David

I found a very cool app for Dragoncon. Its free and among other things it has a friends device that allows you to see where your friends art at the con. It has many cool features and is worth a look anyway.

David we always hang evenings at the glass rail in the Pulse Lounge Marriott. overlooking the lower lobby. A Big group take turns holding seats & watching the escalators ...beast seats for watching the ebb & flow of the tide of people.........Parties...mostly announced when you arrive & start socializing . No Scheduled meetup places till we run into old friends & set up time / locations. The Parade is the only structured "Pirate" Event.

There are many paid parking areas around the DragonCon area however, they do jack the rates up during the Con so expect sticker shock! $25 to $30 a day is average for parking. Scope it out on the Internet. Marta is the best and cheapest way to get there.

    1 · May 12, 2013

    • Iron M.

Aye. Marta lots are free to park in and $2 or $2.50 each way to ride

      August 25, 2013

  • Young J.

Can any of you offer me a ride to con. I'll pay what you see fair for gas and parking.

Ahoy what be the plan after the parade, and are expected to have a ticket to joint the parade?

    July 16, 2013

    • Georgia B.

DragonCon highly encourages all parade participants to have a badge. Sail otherwise at your own risk, but we have never had anyone on the parade route checking for a badge, savvy? After the parade, everyone usually scatters out for panels, lunch, etc.
