Just to weigh in. Mates, I am unable to make each and every event. Time, money, life's happenings, children...the search for full time job to support me habit of eating...I certainly am proud of all that has been accomplished here. I wish Bob the best in his endeavors...fortunately for me, I know I will see him again soon.
Who knew our little band of dress ups would grow up so fast. And ain't it grand mates!. I am unable to attend Friday. But you have my best wishes. I'm in DA that's Drama Anonymous...lol...so I won't make a big deal of this. Bob is our friend. period. One of he best damned pirates anyone could wish for! thanks Bob for all you have done...and all you will do to further the pirate popularity!
I will see you hopefully on August 8....if nothing happens...if not see those who will at Dragon Con...

I actually agree with your original thoughts.
That's what I was here for, and if other things popped up along the way,
that was just fine, but it doesn't mean an entire change of direction, does it?
I'm not sure why Pirate Bob is leaving ( I haven't heard anything) but it does
make me sad because I liked seeing him, but if that's what he wants to do, well
that was the whole point, right? Doing what we wanted to do. So I just wish him
well and hope I'll see him in other places.
See everyone at Dragon-Con!

I was kinda bummed out to hear that Pirate Bob was leaving our
group and am only now getting the pieces of the story put togther. The last
thing that was intended when our group was formed was for there to be any
wailing or gnashing of teeth. When I set up The Atlanta Pirates and Wenches
Guild, I was just looking for other fun folks who liked to dress up like
pirates and women who liked showing their assets in corsets. Never did I dream
that we would get this big. As with any group, people have different
motivations and aspirations. I truly respect that for some of our members,
pirating may be part of their livelihood. While,I look at our group as a
purely social organization, if we have become big enough to take on other
endeavors, then we may need to chart a new course. Hopefully, you've come to
realize that even though I'm listed as "captain", I do not consider myself to
be the owner of this group. As Jack Sparrow said, "You may kill me, but you
cannot offend me." Give me your thoughts on what the vision for this fine
group should be.
