Oscar Party at the Radisson

The 85th. Academy Awards will be televised this night and we will be there, well, at least at the Radisson in downtown Rochester, to see all our favorite actors and movies compete in their categories.  This is a free event, we buy our own drinks and food.  They will validate our parking, so parking in the hotel garage is free. I plan to dress up to fully enjoy the evening a shirt, tie and jacket.  There will not be a red carpet, but we can always imagine.  Plan on a fun evening with fellow movie lovers talking about movies and watching the awards.

Post who you think will win in the categories listed below.  A prize will be given to the most accurate guesses.

Hope you all had a good time at our Oscar Party at the Radisson. I tallied all the surveys and here are the results:

With an amazing 7 out of 7 picks is Ingrid. She must know some people at the Academy. Her prize is a $25 gift card for Regal Cinemas (thanks Teresa!). Congratulations!

With a respectable 5 out of 7 picks was Jean C. Her prize is a ticket and popcorn at the Little Theater (thanks Caroline). Congratulations!

And with 4 out of 7 correct picks were 5 people. Out of these 5 I randomly picked a survey and we have Edie winning a beverage of her choice at Ancanthus on a future movie night (thanks Brian). Congratulations!

You can claim your prizes by seeing myself or Caroline at a Little Theater movie night.

I checked with the Radisson, and they will be serving their "bar food" menu until 11pm. See link below. Also just tell the person at the garage that you are going to the Oscar event in the Legends Bar and you park for free.

I am wearing a sport jacket and tie, not necessary, but nice to dress up a bit.

    See you Sunday at 7pm.

Do you need to wear a shirt and tie to this event? And is this a sit down event or would we be standing most of the night?

    1 · February 18, 2013

    • Teresa

I'm assuming that there's going to be a lot of mingling! And several other gentlemen have mentioned that they're wearing a shirt and tie.

For best foreign film, I vote "A Royal Affair" (Denmark). Alicia Vikander (Kitty in Anna Karenina in a small role) really shines in this movie. I hope it comes to Rochester.
