Blueberry Picking at G and S Farms in Walworth

It is that time of year, the Feast of the Blueberry.  We will go out to Walworth (about 15 minutes out of Rochester) to pick in their lush fields.  You pay by volume, save some for home and share some with the group.  Bring cash to pay for their berries, may not take plastic.  After picking, we will go to a park to serve up our berries with ice cream, sugar, whipped cream and toppings.  Yum!

See you there!  We all can compare blue fingers and lips after picking.

Pat, didn't see you on those to say "good to see you" in the right margin, but I really enjoyed talking with you. Will get Sebastian Barry's "Secret Scripture" as soon as I'm done with this online course.

Hey Brian, I LOVED that!! Gorgeous place and ideal weather, reminded me of the fecundity of heaven lol! And it was wonderful to be treated to such a nice breakfast! Yummy! Glad I could assist with the directions. Thanks for branching out of your normal movie routine; I really enjoyed the seasonal aspect of the experience with the strawberry and blueberry picking--and discovered a new place to take my kids that was ironically in my own back yard all the time! hahaha THANKS.

Very nice orchard. Had raspberries, blackberries, currants, gooseberries, and apples. Perfect weather for picking and the faux hawks kept the other critters away. We went to Ginegaw Park after for our feast. A nice group, good conversation.

Anything else you need me to bring?

Don't need to bring anything. Just contribute your berries and help with prep. Not sure if we will eat there, or find a near by park.

I will bring some ice cream & sugar. Mixing bowl and collander to wash the berries. Contribute some of your harvest and enjoy a communal feast.

Checked out G and S orchards - not 100% organic, but pretty close. Good enough for government work. I'm going to do my best to get my butt out of bed in time to attend, but my butt may not cooperate :)

Change in location: I called Lagoner Farms to check on the blueberry progress for next week. I found out that their pick-your-own is only for CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) members, or share holders of the farm. More power to them to make farming work, but we want to pick our own blueberries. I found a place in Walworth where we can pick our own. G and S Orchards () at 825 Atlantic Ave (Route 286) in Walworth (315 country). See the details in the updated description above. See you Saturday.

I'll be leaving an overnight shift at work. If I can be there I will. Blueberry picking sounds like fun!
