Mid-Month Movie Meet-up

 Hi Everyone --

  Welcome to all of our new members!  I look forward to meeting you.

You'll know you're in the right place when you see a lively group of people talking about the movie they want to see and why or asking others 'what are you going to see tonight?'.  And we're very approachable - just ask: 'is this the movie group?' and you'll hear a resounding YES.

  Not everyone sees the same movie;  instead, we each choose a movie we'd like to see (for me, it's going to be Magic in the Moonlight), find a movie buddy who's going to see the same one, sit together, then walk over to The Spot Coffee Shop afterwards to sit with the rest of the group to discuss what we saw; the good, the bad, and the awful.

We choose from the list of movies that have an early start time, anywhere from 6:15 - 7:10 p.m., and most will have the about the same running time, this way we'll all get out about the same time.

So, the line-up for Saturday night is as follows:

Theatre 2:  One Hundred Foot Journey, @ 6:40 p.m., run time is 122 minutes;

Theatre 3:  Magic in the Moonlight, @ 6:50 p.m., run time is 90 minutes;

Theatre 4:  Boyhood, @ 7:10 p.m.

Theatre 5:  Boyhood, @ 7:30 p.m.

Note:  Most Wanted is not showing Saturday night.

PLEASE visit The Little's website for a more detailed description of the above movies.

After the movie, we'll wander over to The Spot for coffee and conversation.  (They also offer really yummy desserts, hot chocolate, and great sandwiches. )

See you @ the movies :-)

Caroline

    Really enjoyed 'The 100-yard Journey'. Thanks to Denise, Marianne, Lisa, Chris, Kathy and Lynn for great after movie conversation. It was nice that Kris/Kathy got to join us so that we could also talk a bit about 'Boyhood'. ... And I still did not get that demo of Warrior IV.

      Well it's not technically warrior 4 but is sometimes called that when to a flow series. There is also reverse warrior, bound warrior and humble warrior. I can't do humble warrior :>

      "when doing a flow series" not when to" I'm a lousy typist, sorry.

    I saw 100 foot journey. It was definitely a feel good movie. The rich vibrant colors and scenery were most appealing. Best of all, I got to meet some wonderful people :>

    I saw 100 foot Journey and loved it. I agree it was a feel good movie-for sure. A delight if you enjoy cooking-which I do. I'm sorry I missed chatting about all the movies afterwards, but I headed back and saw A Most Wanted Man, as I know it's been showing a few weeks and didn't want to miss it. Really good movie-glad I saw it-I can see why it may get an Oscar nod, as our film critic indicated.

    'Midnight in Paris' spoiled me. I couldn't really focus on 'Magic in the Moonlight' b/c I kept comparing the two, will see it again, so I can appreciate it. I agree with Teresa...the costumes and countryside setting in the South of France (~~sigh~~) should snag an Oscar nod, if not an Oscar. Sorry about the last minute switch to the Golden Port, but The Spot was really crowded and the only way to notify you was through the meet-up site.

    I loved the French countryside/cooking and the Indian food. I had to get my fill of good food at Golden Port after. Nice group discussion at the tables.

    "Boyhood" wasn't what I expected, but a very powerful film.

      I predict it will get an Oscar nod for wardrobe and set design and quite possibly original screenplay. I enjoyed the conversation at the Goldenport afterwards. Thank you Caroline for such a great event.

    I enjoyed seeing some new faces, and talking to the group about the various movies they saw. I loved The Hundred Foot Journey, even though it was not very realistic. It was a definiite "feel good" movie.

    I enjoyed Boyhood. Would have enjoyed more discussion if Spot were not mobbed and Golden Post closing up.....

    What are people seeing?

    August 15

    • Jean

      Boyhood for sure. Looks like they are expecting crowds for it since it is showing in 2 theaters. I am wondering if we need to purchase tickets early. Does anybody have thoughts on that?

      August 15

    • Teresa

      I wanted to see most wanted man. But since it's not playing tonight I'm going to see magic in the moonlight :-)

    I do prefer cooler weather, but....
    So....my thoughts are warming up to 'cooler' weather and hot dogs, baked beans, corn on the cob & fresh strawberries and blueberries. Let's have a picnic for the August movie Meetup. I'll post more details during the coming weeks but wanted to give everyone enough notice (!) and circle the date on their calendars. I'm thinking of a park that would be 'central' for everyone. Let me know if anyone has a suggestion.

    I may be at the theater with a friend that evening-- not sure which show time, but if it's around the meetup time, I'll make sure to say hi. :)

    August 11

  • Teresa

    i'll choose yes for now. I'm not sure what movies are playing. I hope the Philip Hoffman movie will still be at the theater.
