For anyone who saw or plans to see Lunchbox the following link is an interesting article on the lunch delivery system in India. http://www.theguardian.com/global-development/poverty-matters/2014/jan/04/mumbai-dabbawallas-tradition-innovation-india . And this is an amusing video of some British car enthusiasts that try to challenge the dabbawallas. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNIDvr7NNwo

Fyi: H GTV is featuring Bhutan...the country mentioned in The Lunchbox. ..the country more interested in the Gross National Happiness of its people than its Gross National Product.

Le Weekend was a good one -- Hoping to catch Lunchbox before it leaves. We have a great movie group -- Just sorry I didn't meet anyone further down the long table at Spot coffee.

The directing was superb as the main characters were more pronounced throughout. The fact that aunie wasn't seen reminded me of Benice delToro in The Usual Suspects. He said his character/lines wasn't/weren't essential to the plot so he slurred his speech. Auntie's lines were important but not her presence. As with the protaganist's co-workers, they, too, seemed to remain forever in the backgeound.

The Lunchbox was enjoyable due to comedic intervals and great directing. If there was no comedy in the film it would have been rather dull. There was just enough to not make the film depressing. (Thank you! As I wasn't in the mood for depressing.).

"The Lunch Box" is a fascinating film that follows the interaction of two lonely souls via letters. Each character follows an arc of loneliness to self-realization of their own particular needs and aspirations. It is beautifully told, using cooking as the proactive cause of their relationship.
This is an adult movie, in the sense that it is intelligent and provoking without pandering to Hollywood dumbing-down or sugary coatings.
