Mid-Month Movie Meet-up

  • May 17, 2014 · 6:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Hi everyone: this is just a short note listing movie choices--please take a few moments to check out the Little's website for more in-depth descriptions. AFTER THE MOVIE we'll meet at The Spot coffee shop on East Avenue. Theatre 2 @ 7 pm, 104 minute run time: The Lunchbox - there are no accidents - people come into our lives for a reason, a season or a lifetime. This film may not be at the Little much longer so please consider watching an adult love story (as said by one of our movie group members).

Theatre 3 @ 6:00 pm, 'God's Pocket', run time is 88 minutes. One of Philip Seymour Hoffman's last films.

Theatre 4 @ 6:30 pm, run time is 100 minutes: the Grand Budapest Hotel, directed by Wes Anderson. ..

Theatre 5 @ 6:40 pm, run time is 111 minutes. The Railway Man, starring Colin Firth in an intense performance. Based on a true story of a WW II POW. As one of our movie members told me: ' hang onto your seat'. Theatre 1 is closed for renovation. Which movie are You going to see???

Looking forward to seeing everyone Saturday evening.

The movie begins with Mick in ecstasy. Jean not too impressed..so I am thinking , "its going to be a bumpy ride, fasten my seatbelt. And it was. An excellent performance from PSH..as Mick ,trying to fit into God's Pocket..only the locals can do that. Thankfully he never did fit in and thankfully I never would have either. Yes a must see..

I have an early morning SKYPE on Sunday, so didn't stay for Spot coffee -- would like to have more meetup input on Philip S Hoffman movie.

"God's Pocket". A great Phillip Seymore Hoffman performance. A very dark performance of a man trying to survive in a culture to which he is not admitted and in a life that holds little promise. The culture clash was a fascinating study in how the members serve to maintain their identity against the intrusions and judgments of the outsiders.

Great conversation afterwards at Spot Coffee.

God's Pocket is the directorial debut of Roger Sterling from Mad Men. Love that guy! I see he gave one of his fellow cast members a job - the lovely Joan Holloway (Christina Hendricks)

I am going to God's Pocket. This is my first time with the group so assuming if I go to the Spot Coffee Shop after the movie I will meet up with the group? There probably will not be enough time before the show to meet anyone?
