See Riddick "Rule the Dark" in IMAX

Synopsis: the latest chapter of the groundbreaking saga that began with the 2000 hit sci-fi film Pitch Black and 2004’s The Chronicles of Riddick reunites writer/director David Twohy (A Perfect Getaway, The Fugitive) and star Vin Diesel (the Fast and Furious franchise, xXx). Diesel reprises his role as the antihero Riddick, a dangerous, escaped convict wanted by every bounty hunter in the known galaxy.

Alternate days/showtimes will be available, but are not yet listed on the website.

I liked the first 2 films, and want to check out the 3rd installment - please join me if you're interested.

I thought it was pretty poor in several ways but hey, the company was great and the extended Metallica trailer was worth the cost of admission! And I'm glad I sucked it up and went out for Chinese with everyone, that was very nice. And nice to meet some new faces!

Thanks everyone. I had a great time at the movie and at dinner last night.

Movie was so-so (even in IMAX). Way too much time spent on Riddick flexing his muscles and showing us what a almost super-human, invincible bad-ass he was. He should consider a career change to surgeon. I have never seen anyone self-treat wounds like he did and still clobber the enemy. And hit on butch woman.

The group was great though...knowledgeable, friendly and a great sense of humor :)

I liked the first part of the movie best, and thought that Dahl was the best new character. Not a bad movie, but would have been even better with a "less is more" approach to number of actors (how many bounty hunters do you need), a little more character development, a little better storyline in the second half, and monsters that didn't have an obvious "alien" influence. A great group (not ashamed to discuss a variety of "interesting" topics) and good food. Thanks to all who attended - I hope to see you again soon.

    1) Per the Jordan's IMAX website, the 7:05 PM show on Friday 9/6/2013 at the Natick location is $12.75. 2) Run time of the film is 120 minutes. 3) Sichuan Gourmet serves delicious spicy Chinese food, and is not far away from the theater if anyone is hungry after the show (they're open until 11 PM on Friday).

We should plan to meet early! Traffic is really brutal sometimes! I know, I drive in it every day!

Where you wanna meet? In front of the Jordan's entrance? So we all can sit together!

Also it you sit on the right side of the theater, you can exit faster (that is where people usually leave to the bottom right)!
    See you there!

Just picked up my ticket at the box office. The guy said he's very surprised that only 5 -6 tickets have been sold (so far) for this particular showing.

I already purchased my ticket and hope to be at Jordan's around 6 to stake out a place in line for us. I'm not sure how crowded it will be, but since it's a Friday night show it may sell out.

Thanks for the reminder Lynn, I just purchase mine. No way I'm getting shut out after recapping this week at home with Pitch Black, the Dark Fury anime, and Chronicles.

What happen! I thought he had a new empire after defeating the ruler of the necromongers? He's on the run again? And it looks like the same planet and creatures? (I saw the previews, but don't get it)?

I don't think anyone watches these films for the story as much as the cool effects in I-Max. I watched Host last night and that had story and was sci-fi.

I have a winery tour on Saturday and will not be able to make it that day. I will go Friday and would be interested in dinner after the film but that may be too late for others.

    August 31, 2013

  • LynnMarie

If people would prefer to go on Saturday, we could get dinner before or after at Szechuan Gourmet.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
