The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

In this second installment, Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson). Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a "Victor's Tour" of the districts. Along the way, Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow (Donald Sutherland) prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (Quarter Quell) - a competition that could change Panem forever.

More intense and suspenseful than the first movie - with moments of deeper character insight. The addition of Phillip Seymour Hoffman was surprising low-key and did not really showcase his acting talent, but his role may expand and be more interesting in the next film.

This "cheeky" girl is on fire!

I got to see the "The Hungry Hungry Games" stage parody at the Hanover Theater last night (thanks to a very nice member of this group - Linda). It's a light, silly spoof based on the movie with an occasional adult theme reference - no problem after seeing Don Jon - and some memorable one-liners/situations mostly in the second act.

Can't wait for the real thing!

"Don Jon" was pretty cool. Dark comedy, funny drama, a love story and social commentary to boot. I presumed they all lived happily everafter.

Thanks for the idea to buy early for sell out reason. I just tried to buy online and they are not yet available, but I was able to set up notification to be sent once they are through Fandango.

When I suggested this event for opening night I assumed it will sell out, so I'll be buying my ticket this week.

Do you think we need to buy tickets much in advance? I'm excited to see the sequel. Loved the books and first film.

I might be out of town for Thanksgiving weekend, but if I'm around I will attend. I've been wanting to see Catching Fire.
