REALITY (Italy 2013; R)

Sunday November 24 @1:00 pm

Direction: Matteo Garrone; screenplay: Maurizio Braucci & Ugo Chiti
When a likable Neapolitan fishmonger tries out for a famous Italian reality show and seems to garner at least a hint of interest from the producers, his life veers into unexpectedly absurd and even mildly paranoid territory. “A funny, dark, increasingly razor-sharp inquiry into the physics of modern fame – how the dream of ‘being seen’ and thus validated on some primal level can completely unhinge the average schmo”- Boston Globe. “Achieves something uniquely colorful, disturbing and trenchant about self-perception in an increasingly fishbowl-like society”

- LA Times. Cannes Festival Grand Jury Prize winner. 116 min. Subtitles.

TICKETS: $6.00 adults, $4.00 seniors, $3.00 Clark students (with ID)

The film was good - however, it could have used a bit more character development, and re-edit the film to delete some of the redundancy. The scenery, and architecture of Naples was visually
interesting. For those who speak Italian - it was great to hear the dialect of Naples (Napoli) in a film, (Naples - original home of Sophia Loren). Most Italian films shy away from the southern Italian accents/dialects.
